FM symptoms

Well hi all been ages since I have been on here, in fact lost sign on so had to re reg. The site seems very different but hey ho, I would like to know does anyone get problems with there chest as in pains, palpitations, and especially a feeling like my heart is quivering which is the only way i can describe it along with discomfort sometimes pain. Ok first of all don't panic recently spent 6 days on cardiac ward which ended with an angiogram and cardiologist saying things ok little bit of disease in right hand side of heart but nothing to worry about just ignore pains and he thinks its a quirk of the fibromyalgia oh and he doesn't need to see me any more. So here I am ignoring pains when i get them but would be interested to hear from anyone with similar experience, by the way I have had FM since 1993 Cheers everybody Sue

Hi sue

Hope your keeping well

And I no exactly what you mean by the heart feeling like it's quivering, can be frightening at times and I get the palpations as well but don't get the pain, my doctor said it can be part of the fibro like you have had everything checked out and all is normal :-)

Best wishes hun ♡Mary xx

Thanks Guppy44 reasuring to hear you know what i mean, believe me had my last checkup with cardiologist last week and when he asked how things had been since hospital stay, I tried to explain this quivering to him he looked at me as if i was talking a foreign language lol

Best wishes Sue xx

Hi there Yes i to get tightness tends to make drs take notice both times i brought a particularly bad session to drs I've ended up being blue lighted in to hospital last time was 6 days while i had several tests including the angiograme and then discharged with the saying i think its a quirk of your fibromyalgia ......

Cheers for reply take care Sue x

yes, it was my very first symptom of FMS, the rheumatologist says its Costochondritis, it settled down ok, but the minute my Fibro flares it comes back, its so painful, even breathing and talking hurts, as does my heartbeat. The only thing that helps it for me is codeine, but I am currently trying some ibuprofen gel massaged gently into my chest…x

Welcome back to the site Sue - it is different isn't it? Even though a few of us oldies are still here As you can see cosco condritis spelling is awful a tight band I think in the chest muscles radiating from the spine you feel clasped and it is naughty no breadth!.

Hope you like the new site hope you are rising above it!

Thanyou for posting this, I too have this and have been checked out, nothing untoward found. Glad it's not just me feeling like I'm going potty. Lou xx

Hello Sue. Funny fluttery heartbeats can be caused by our autonomic system going haywire. It also controls our thermostats and a lot of other things that should work automaticaly.

So amongst other things we are either too hot or freezing cold when everyone else is fine.

Nice to meet you.

I was referred to a cardiac cons at the hospital as I was getting palpitations a lot with really fast heart beat and pain. He was quite knowledgeable about fibro, said that my heart itself was fine, that it was a reaction to the pain I was in. Julie xxx

Thank you all for your replies, its very reassuring to hear so many of us have the same problem, good old fibro anyone who thinks its a walk in the park needs to spend a week in our shoes I say...

I have been told by all Drs specialists and so on never ever to ignore chest pain.

If you ring anyone and tell them you have chest pain they will ask you to attend hospital immediately. I would never ignore it because there could be a deterioration or a different prob. Good luck xx

Costa Costa as I call it as can never spell it I suffer from it and it is different from your symptoms. I have had fibro since 1993. They explained to me that the air sacs in between your ribs get inflamed and become very sore even to touch. Sometimes small hard lumps appear around the area. Just out of curiosity have you had a thyroid check as this can cause all your symptoms as well. Gentle hugs xx

Yes thanks for your concern i have had tests for tests it feels like lol and dont worry if i thought it was a different pain i would still get it checked.x

Hi there, I too suffer with chest pains occasionally, but always on my left hand side, once so badly that I was urged to call the out of hours service who of course sent an ambulance who did a ECG and all was ok. I then spoke with my GP who said that of course the heart is a muscle and thus can easily be part of Fibro, but never to assume that, just in case it isn't , but he wasn't surprised by what I had experienced.

Hope that makes some kind of sense .... Sorry

Hi Sue_F

I sincerely hope that you are feeling as well as you possibly can be today? I do get this a lot. However, I do suffer with Asthma and COPD, so I think they are responsible for half of the issue. Secondly my medications include steroids, so I think they also contribute?

I want to wish you all the best of luck, and I genuinely hope that you can find the answers that you are looking for.

All my hopes and dreams for you
