I have not read anything about this myself but I have to doubt its validity as Fibro does not (to the best of my knowledge) have any blood maker factors to indicate its presence. I have arthritis as well as Fibro and they have clear blood markers so it can be diagnosed whereby Fibro is usually a question of elimination for a diagnosis. It would be wonderful if this were the case, as a cure could follow?

I want to genuinely and sincerely wish you all the best of luck.

All my hopes and dreams for you

My understanding has always been that there is no blood test for Fibro that is why they started with the pain point markers.

If any doubt check with your own doctor whether this is a valid blood test!

Good luck

Hi Hopey.

I had also heard this and that some insurance companies in the us were insisting on this very expensive test before paying out.

i have just done a bit of research and found that it seems to have fizzled out.

I only found one or two sites that mention it, But the more reliable sites say that there is no blood test.

I think that i will go with the more reliable sites, especialy as the articles that do mention it are now 3 or 4 years old.

Sue :)

There have been a couple of what they call Assay tests rumored in the past and there is recent trial that was pushing a kit from about 2 years ago on the basis of one clinical study. The results of this were not repeated from memory and the kit was $700 or so.

At present there is no blood test that either rules in fibro or rules it out. But there is work going on about this and once they have markers they can pin on fibro then it would be possible for a test to be produced. The best recent news is from Dr Frances Williams and is about study on twins and is promising. You can read more here: healthunlocked.com/fibroact...

But it still stands that any study needs to be repeated in multi site trials to test that operator bias and many other factors are excluded :)

Fibromyalgia is a nervous system disorder. I’d like to educate the group because people keep telling me it’s not real. If you had fibromyalgia you would not say that but I understand it’s difficult to truly empathize or perceive something you haven’t experienced so let me share some facts about fibromyalgia. If you don’t agree please don’t reply comment until you read to the end and look up Epic Genetics and their fibromyalgia blood test Fm/a. I could go on forever but I’ll keep it as short and sweet as possible 🙂

There were complications during my third pregnancy with the epidural they used and immediately following delivery I couldn’t pick up my neck, MRI showed nothing however I was nearly paralyzed except I could feel the pain while I lay immobile and unable to care for my new baby without assistance from my husband and family. Most fibromyalgia sufferers are women and I believe it has to do with either the epidural or pitocin as causation to an already predisposed genetic mutation like or similar to MTHFR which I also have. I believe the spinal cord can also be damaged through work place and car accident trauma as well. It’s can also be a childhood emotional trauma while the spinal cord and nervous system is developing. There are many factors which I’ve been doing polls in my fibromyalgia group to determine on my own time that are relative. The issue is that too many people get misdiagnosed with fibro so it’s impossible to truly do high level testing. However, in 2012 a lab named Epic Genetics developed a definitive blood test to determine fibromyalgia and now can we can weed out misdiagnosed patients who have something else and focus solely on actual fibromyalgia patients. The test is called Fm/a and it reads certain proteins that are elevated ONLY in people with fibromyalgia.

I couldn’t hold my son because my neck and my arms hurt too bad the pain eventually took my entire body. Emotional, physical trauma, and high stress activated the pain more since fibromyalgia is a disorder of the nervous system and the neurons are constantly on edge and misfiring which is why we comprehend and feel pain at a much more increased rate. Again, I could go on and on and probably will but please don’t comment until you research Epic Genetics and the Fm/a blood test. Thanks.
