Hi there, sorry you are in so much pain. Have you approached your GP? From there you may ask to be referred to specialist care or even physio. I use magnesium spray on my legs and Epsom salts in my bath for rib pain. Hope this helps. Take care x

Hello 😀 There's lots I'm doing to try to improve this (they may or may not work for you but if you're like me, you'll give anything a go)!

- Compression socks (not heavy duty just light compression to soothe my calves).

- Physiotherapy (my posture is appalling and quite abit of my pain comes from this).

- Massage (to try to keep things supple and flexible).

- Yoga (ish) - a couple of moves such as child pose.

- Deep breathing - in for 4, out for 6. Using diaphragm not chest to breath.

- Antihistamines (yes, they seem to help my pain as I think some of my pain is mast cell related but this may not be the same for everyone).

- Turmeric, probiotics and generally eating well (Coeliac so don't eat gluten anyway but too much sugar or fat also seems to make things worse).

- Hot water bottle (used all the time along with some really nice lavender warm bags).

Phew! Like I said, it may or may not help, I think I am lucky as I don't need as much medication as many people but that is sheer luck so I'm trying to stave off needing strong medication for as long as possible as my experience with Duloxetine (burning pains everywhere and sweats) put me off!!

If you go on the website for Fibromyalgia Action Uk and look under contacts you will see contacts for various support groups throughout the country. There might be one near you. Good luck.

I use freeze spray for the burning pain in my calves and found Coenzyme Q10 capsules also helped with muscle pain but it took about 6 weeks of taking them before they started to have any effect. Even though it might be painful do try to keep active I find that if I don't get outmfor a short walk every day my pain is worse. Like others I am literally married to my hot water bottle and have also found an electric blanket really helps.

I'm with you on this one rosewine. My hot water bottle is my best friend although I have also on occasion resorted to ice packs - i.e. frozen peas. Take care. xx

bigpigs77, check into thigh dose vitamin B1 (thiamine) for fibromyalgia relief. Thiamine is a component needed for functions in the brain and body but is often at a deficiency as certain food products such as raw fish, and shellfish, contain thiaminases - enzymes that destroy thiamine. For more information about thiaminases search on " Thiaminases and other Antithiamin Factors." Large quantities of tea, coffee interfere with it's absorption too. A “functional” thiamine deficiency can also exist from oxidative stress creating a metabolic block from enzymatic inactivation requiring a higher dose of thiamine. Investigate the pros and cons of thiamine hydrochloride, thiamine mononitate, benfotiamine, TTFD and subutiamine. Magnesium is needed to change thiamine into it's active form but it may be deficient as stress, pain and others cause it to be lost. Look further into high dose thiamine after studying the links below. Always consult your health care professional before using any supplement.
