Hi all, I hope you've all enjoyed the sunshine today & decent temperature. I wrote a number of weeks ago about my feet & you kind members replied. I caught a programme 3 wks ago whilst channel changing which was describing what I experience. They had called it Epidermolysis Bullosa (E.B) but my GP said he didn't think so, prescribing an ointment. Using this ointment had such a reaction that my skin split very deeply across the heel, was unable to bear my weight, so hobbling &, housebound. A referral to a Dermatologist is underway I believe, but, if they're only doing telephone diagnoses, how are they going to know, as photographs don't tell the whole story? I am so tired of organisations using Covid-19 as a reason not to deal with people/ patients/ customers properly. Thank you to all who kindly responded to my previous query. Take care of yourselves

My sister has EB it's genetic so they can test for it. It effects the skin on her whole body though, it used to be very rare, less than 5000 cases in the whole of the UK. Because of c-section births it is becoming less rare as EB babies survive the birth process. You can have it extremely badly or milder like my sister but it's still a serious diagnosis, you have to be very careful in the sun as you are more prone to skin cancer. I doubt a gp could diagnose it only a skin specialist.
A gp once told my brother he had vertiligo which can be as very disfiguring life long skin condition and told him he didn't need to see a specialist bc there's nothing they can do anyway. We asked for a second opinion and to see a skin specialist they said he just had a skin fungus and gave him a cream and it went away. So they put through a lot of stress for nothing!
I hope you get a referral soon. Good luck.
