Painful feet and ankles

Does anyone suffer with painful feet and ankles, I’m in absolute agony tonight, had to come home early leaving my friends to enjoy the rest of our day out without me. I feel like crying tonight my feet are so painful, I’ve taken paracetamol and ibuprofen but still in absolute agony, I can’t even put my feet on the floor tonight they are so painful. Tomorrow is our last day of our holiday and I don’t know if I’m able to go out with my friends but as we are in Amsterdam we have to leave the hotel early and our flight is not until the evening. I take pregablin morning and evenings but it doesn’t help with the pain at all. I’ve recently had x rays on my ankles and still waiting the results.

Has anyone in the group experienced this type of pain and do you have any advice on how to manage it at least until I get back home.

Hi Ammangirl - I don't have fibro, but do know what it's like to suffer with chronic, daily pain. You might be sceptical, but hope you'll at least try this. I used to teach this as a physio student, but now use this daily as it can help relieve both stress & pain. Please see: nbt.nhs.uk/sites/default/fi...

Hope it helps until you get back home, & going forwards.

I suffer terrible pain in feet and ankles and diagnosed with plantar fasciitis Stretching icing and massaging is the only relief If you look on line it will advise you on the stretching, a bottle with ice in to roll is great for relief on sole Unfortunately I have to do these daily otherwise my tendons are just too tight causing the pain. I had months of being unable to walk without severe pain but with these stretches etc I’m able to do my walking again Good luck

I get terrible pains in my feet, especially at night. There are times when I go to stand up, pain is excruciating for a few seconds then eases off slightly, I also get burning sensations

Of Pregabalin is not helping, then you may wish to discuss coming off them with your Gp-there is no point in taking medication if its doing nothing for you

Hope you can enjoy your last day in Amsterdam and meet up with your friends. We are hoping to visit Amsterdam next year, as we spent a few hours there when travelling to the Hague a few years back xxx

Hi , yes I do and the pain is terrible, I will put compression socks on to help and they really support the ankles, give them a go they may work for you too.

I’ve taken your advice and ordering compression socks, yesterday I could hardly walk my feet were so painful, so today I will rest up as much as possible in the hope they will settle down x

yes I suffer badly with my feet and ankles, I was then diagnosed with planter fasciitis! GP prescribed ibuprofen gel for the feet along with the usual paracetamol and ibuprofen tablets, helped somewhat but I also found compression socks very helpful, also try to soak your feet and lift them up when you are sitting, and wear well supported footwear, it really helps ease the pain after a while, also be gentle to yourself if you feel it hurting just sit and rest a little, gentle hugs xx

Hi

Yes I suffer with my feet - always numb under my toes and painful when standing or walking for long periods of time. I used to always wear flipflops now find I have to have soft soles so indoors crocs work for me and when out Sketchers with a archfit - my plantar fasciitis has gone but my feet still hurt. i have had nerve tests which were all clear and I am on Amitriptyline but that hasnt done anything so have an appointment tomorrow again! Rest is the only thing that helps after lots of walking......I feel your pain.

Thank you for replying Sue, I also wear Sketches when out walking as the sole is soft which helps somewhat. I think I’ve just overdone it walking over the past few days, you know what it’s like when you push yourself you know you are going to suffer afterwards 😭. I wish I’d been stronger and told my friends I couldn’t go at their pace but lessons learned for me.

Hope you get some answers from your Dr and get your own pain under control soon.

i too suffer with terrible pain in my feet & swollen ankles. I find heat helps, a water bottle or heat wrap. Also massaging brings some relief. If you can get someone else to do it all the better! Good luck.

Hi Zehra and thank you for taking the time to reply, I take turmeric daily have done for quite some time, I’m visiting my local health store today and will ask if they can also recommend anything else that may help me. I’ve also thought about massage and may just take your advice and make an appointment.

Hope you get some relief from this awful pain too

Hey Ammangirl

I really understand what your going through. I too have very painful feet and ankles. I cant walk without very noticable limp. My feet hurt at the front top of the ankle where yr feet would bend and its that bend that really hurts. Also at the base of my toes hurt ,again where they would bend as u walk, so I walk trying to minimise the bend which puts strain on my already painful back. When I lay in bed the blankets hurt because they rest on my feet so I have to lie on my side. It also impacts the pain when i wear certain shoes. I can only tell you that I too have feet and ankle pain unfortunately I can't help with advice , but I will read the replies that u receive and hopefully get some help too.

The best of luck to you

F 😍

Hi Frenchi88

Thank you for your post, I suffer the same symptoms as you, since coming back from my girls holiday I’ve been in agony with my feet. I’ve seen a podiatrist who gave me insoles and also had x rays on my ankles and waiting the results (not holding my breath on that one) . I too walk with a limp and hold onto my partner or son when out walking for support, I hate that I can’t walk properly as it has an impact on everything I do including trying to exercise. I’m hoping it will pass as it’s really getting me down, I’m now wearing compression socks and putting on ibuprofen gel in the hope that it settles down. I wish you luck and hopefully like me we maybe able to het some respite from this awful condition.

Regards

Sharon x
