You know when you can't sleep and your mind takes a long wander... OK so that's me now.
I can't loose weight :(. I have tried so many things and it just doesn't budge and it's slowly creeping up and it's such a massive contributer to my pain as it's putting extra stress on my already very weak and pathetic joints and bones.
My issue is food prep is just impossible, I work full time and when I'm done with work I've probably used 9/10 of my energy for the day and prepping food does not even get a look in.
My days off are spent resting to the max, though I do manage to get out for a walk and do housework on those days. It's a fine balance between meal prep/energy/I don't want this to effect my working hours I love my job/ I'm trying so hard/it's all making me extra tired.
I'm seriously begining to consider weight loss surgery to get me off on the right foot, but I was curious to know if anyone has done this and if it makes living with fm any easier or harder.
Any suggestions thoughts or experiences plz let me know

Is your medication making it impossible to lose weight? I went to my doctor because I was in the same place as you and I changed one of my meds which seemed to make a difference. I also do Optifast, so have three shakes a day and a bowl of veges. I love it because it’s no food prep, the shakes are easy, and I really wasn’t too hungry. I had a couple of super hungry days but lost heaps on those days. I do it for a month a year. I thought I’d try it for a week to see how I went and it wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be, and losing the weight was pretty fast too which was a great motivator. I was two weeks into my month this year then got appendicitis but still lost 3kg in that time.
I would day medication sometimes makes it hard to loose weight
As you work full time and asking about food prep, I buy packets of frozen veg etc so all you have to do is throw them in the pan and put something in the oven to go along with it. Also a slow cooker is pretty good so your meal is hot and ready for when you get in from work.
I have a couple of friends who have had weight loss surgery, and have had more problems afterwards with their health, and tend to say they wouldn't recommend it unless essential for your health needs.
Is it just you in house, or is their other family members? If just yourself, then supermarkets offer a decent selection of healthier ready meals these days that might be an option for days you are working.
Buy prepared veggies etc to minimise prep time, use a slow cooker and cook extra then freeze so you have meals ready to defrost and reheat.
If others in family, are they able to help with food prep/cooking?
Hubby does all cooking in our house ... But he has own health issues, so we try and keep some meals in freezer that we can just defrost/reheat if he is not able to cook. We also buy frozen veg packs that are enough just for one or two people, or prepared veggies if buying fresh. Electric food chopper/blender also makes life easier.
A friend of mine swears by the 5 2 diet, she tried every diet out there till this one.
She's totally in control & lost a shed load of weight.
Now when she feels she's gaining weight she does this for a few weeks to get back on track.
Don't know much about weight loss surgery but I've heard it can be really difficult just to eat everything our bodies need & lots of sickness if you eat too much.
Absolutely your decision but sounds really painful with lots of issues to deal with afterwards.
Since I’ve been on a certain med I’ve put on over a stone in weight so knee joints etc are felling the brunt , so I am wondering if you are on tablets that have increased your weight ? M and S do some good stir frys meals , meat and veg all prepared. I sometimes prepare a big bowl of mixed salads so I’ve got some ready the next day and use weekends to make a meal ahead , Yes some of these frozen veg rice , packets are good as well , really hard when your working Full time as well. Xx
Since fibromyalgia was introduced in my life, it came along with prediabetic symptoms so weight management was a problem. I can't say I'm at your level but personally a low carb diet made a huge difference. Stuffing yourself with meat ensures protein will stop the hunger.
Maybe you could also try the carnivore diet for a week.
A lot of pain-management meds cause constipation. I've done a lot of work on my gut biome recently, which has helped me lose weight and maintain that loss. A healthier and more diverse set of gut bacteria means I get more nourishment from my food and has cut a lot of my cravings. It also helps 'move things through' with fewer harsh chemicals.... if you get my meaning.
I get pre-chopped frozen veg; as my hands don't often 'work' well enough, pre-cooked rice (in the days before I stopped the carbs - now Quinoa), and eggs, fish or chicken breast..... On 'nibble' days, when I have neither energy nor appetite, I drink veg juice, or poach eggs in tinned tomatoes...... avocados are quick, filling and packed with healthy oils. I use a lot of hemp seeds and hemp seed oil, as they take no cooking, I like the taste and they're anti-inflammatory.... if you get the right balance of veg, protein and oils - the weight takes care of itself; it has in my case anyway.... Good luck with all that!
