I am just wondering if anyone has suffered from numb legs. I woke up one morning 2 years ago and i had a completely numb leg, which made me struggle to walk. My GP didn't really investigate it, and two days ago my right leg has started to have numbness and also shooting pain going up my leg from my foot tight onto my hip and then my lower back.
I had a MRI scan today after being sent to A&E yesterday.
The doctor there said they couldn't see anything but admitted that he didn't understand it all, and I should go back to my GP and ask for either more pain killers and ask to be referred to a neurosurgeon.
I have been left in pain and I still don't know what's wrong with my legs.
Has anyone else had anything similar, as I would be great full for any others opinions.
Many thanks

When I was 15 one day I woke up and both my legs were completely numb making them paralyzed. It was like that for a week and I was hospitalized for 4 of those days and they could never figure out why. It has happened 2 more times since then and it usually happens when I’m extremely stressed. I don’t know if this helps at all but I can relate.
numbness and shooting pains I have a lot of that for more than twenty years I put it down to ankolysing spondylosis . but it can also be caused by disk in your lower back putting pressure on your nerves like sciatica . did the doctor you saw mention anything about your sacroiliac joint this particular part of your lower spine can cause multiple symptoms . best wishes for finding the right source of this .
Hi I had me at eighteen was carrying out normal life when woke one morning with numb legs I tried to get up and go to work but the more I used them the worse they became in 2days I was in hospital in isolation as thought possible polio after 6weeks in hospital said it was m e I spent 6months in wheelchair and nearly a year out of life I did get better but occasionally when over doing things would get sore legs and would need to rest this gradually improved over a few years but I now have fibromyalgia which took 5years to diagnose I have now had it 6years since I have stopped pain killers as were not helping only have amitriptyline as bed time to help with sleep and only take tramadol when in flare have to learn to just live with it it is hard but be kind to yourself .
Hi huni. I have suffered with numbness in my legs and hands for many years. I have been told it’s all connected to my fibromyalgia and that I should do gentle leg and arm exercises. Good luck with it. Take care xx
I have had numb legs to the point of not being able to stand but it never lasted long at all a few minutes max, I mentioned it to my rheumatologist and he said sometimes it's a pinched nerve maybe because of the way I'm sitting? It might be important to mention that I have put on weight. GP's only have a general knowledge of the body so I would think he/she should be referring you to someone that can help or at least give you answers. Hope your ok and hope you get some answers xx
