Non sensical preference options with my bank and me...

My bank won't give me my money tomorrow unless I use the cash machine. As I have an amount that isn't round I require to go into the bank. However they have told me to transfer the full amount to my nationwide account from the options at the atm and take it out from there instead. With ocd and tourette's on top of extreme at times fatigue my stress level is through the roof. I need all of my money and they shouldn't be fobbing me off to another branch which means another branch will have to do the job. If all branches took that line of action how on earth will I get all of my money?

unfortunately we live in strange times at the moment and perhaps they are suggesting something that will work in the present circumstances. I know that people are not being allowed into petrol stations and perhaps banks as well to limit risk.

You may need to make two withdrawls?

Cant got rent to pay and the three quid difference if I dont get it means my dog starves. No point in using the atm if I have to go into the bank and if they're saying its preferential then they can't really refuse or I might have to call the police....

not sure what you mean about preferential or the need to get the police involved But going in all guns blazing with your mind set is not going to help you. Talk to them and see what may be the compromise they can offer. But this may need you to compromise as well.

Well if they dont compromise they will leave me no choice. I'm a survivor but I ain't no cowboy or coward and I stand up for those like me but who cant speak up for their rights The bank knows I have mental health issues and they've continued to deny me my rights on occasion. On this occasion though I dont need 'guns blazing' I just need my mind and if I dont get my money it will be a police matter. Sorry friend but enough is enough there's a lot of bias toward mental health and people like myself in the small minded town where I live and as I'm a people person I will stick by my principle. In preferential terms I mean to remind them of that compromise you mentioned. Thanks for your concern though but yeh I'm irked I know my rights and intend to exercise them in these 'strange times'. They're no more strange than life itself and people. Good old mother earth has had enough and there's too much hype. Casualty is an unfortunate aspect of any war but we have to look at the positives. We have few choices now as it is, it is what it is...

Could you explain to those in the bank of your predicament and tell them how you suffer so they can offer you perhaps more guidance?

Resistance from the bank? To a degree they have a duty of care to their customers. They will be taking social distancing measures to ensure you and them are both as safe as p**s and they will be able to give you the exact amount in pounds and pence you require

My initial response disappeared. I want my money from inside my bank not from another as a transfer. That's technically them sending the disease elsewhere. I cant get the exact amount from an atm in pounds and pence. You dont understand sorry but that's unfair and a lot of stress I don't wish to handle. They have screens to protect and as interest rates have yet again plummeted whilst workers continue to get full wages for considerably less hours what more 'p**s' do they need or take..

I didn’t mean to type p**s I actually meant to type poss, short for possible. I am not sure why you are bringing in workers wages into this? Have I miss understood? I get you need a certain exact amount which you cannot get at an ATM, but Coronavirus time or not you wouldn’t be able to get pence out of an ATM anyway you would need to go into a branch, if they know about your condition as you say they do above then they have a duty of care to assist you

You have every right to get the funds you need from one bank if you have the amount you need in that one bank

Ok so what more p**s then do they poss need to take. Way I see it's gone from dumb to dumber, not safe to safer. Whether Covid's allowed to run its course by way of herd immunity or we are kept in isolation indefinitely is by the by it is still scientifically debatable as to whether there will be less deaths. But it's not about the politics of this Covid thing so I brought in workers wages politely to note cos I thought you meant p**s. Happy evening and let's all watch Castaway preferably not with the toothache. Wish me luck tomorrow and, just for the record, I'm not happy with BOS current over the top in my opinion forever changing methods one way or another and who myself is someone who observes what they call social distancing as a discretionary principle and personal choice and I loathe people who don't. Thanks for your input and don't worry I'll get this dealt with and then future wages will be paid to my non chip and pin account with my building society all points noted...

Is there a local shop where you could change a note? Not sure obv how you need to pay the rent etc so may not be helpful us offering solutions.

Hi can you not pay your rent over the fone using your card then you will be able withdraw what you have left in bank.

can you not withdraw from an ATM and then ask for c hange of a note for the odd cash inside the bank

I would think that is unlikely these days. It can be difficult even getting into the bank

I always use my local post office to withdraw cash as they will give me the exact amount I need in whatever notes or coins I want. I always get small denomination notes and lots of pound coins plus other silver. Most banks will allow you to withdraw money from the Post Office so hope you’re near one so can get exactly what you need.

jezippolito, Our bank is also trying to stop people going inside which will be hard for those who have preferred to use only cash, which is normal here in Spain.

I wonder if your landlord would consider a bank transfer? Or setting up a paypal account, easy to do and cost free?

I am with Nationwide and have always found them very helpful. I am sure if you explained your situation they will be very helpful. Can you ring the branch directly or even going through to the call centre - I am sure they will help you
