Hi am sorry I don't know about benifits. But have readYou can get ESA at the same time as other benefits like Personal Independence Payment (PIP). You can't usually get ESA at the same time as Jobseeker's Allowance (JSA) or Income Support

So I can't understand why they did not tell you that when you put in a claim for JSA if they knew you were already claiming ESA?

I know i tried to claim jsa to top up my income for extra pennies and then they said they would email the team to say i made the claim in error and try to get my esa reinstated, i just hope i can sort this mess out, im very upset about it.

Yes I understand why you did it. But I am just wondering why they never told you before you made the claim and not after. I hope you manage to get it sorted out.

Hi Fibrogirl41

Were you ever receiving ESA into your bank or was it actually JSA all along? Did they state today on the phone that you can only apply for one or the other benefit?

Hopefully now you have spoken to the DWP they will resolve the situation for you & it’ll be sorted soon.

I know it always sounds easy to say, but try not to worry, my mum was a big worrier but she learnt it never resolved anything and made her tired & anxious only.

Good luck tomorrow, at least you started things today, for hopefully a result asap😊

when I swapped esa for Jsa/universal credit I was over £200 a month better off my health assesment from my esa followed onto the universal credit not fit for work so I didn’t have to go through more health assessments ect so might be worth switching and you can still claim pip witout effecting other benifits
