Fibromyalgia Friendly Mattresses

So there are so many mattresses that are on the market just now and I’ve just bought a Dormeo mattress and it’s so bloody hard my back is wrecked.

So does anyone have or has bought a new mattress that’s fibro friendly.

I can’t afford to buy another mattress that’s not fitting or has anyone bought an electric bed that’s as good to.

Hi Daisey,

I have a firm foam mattress with a memory foam layer and it is great. It is firm enough to provide support to my frame but soft enough to cradle me.

Had it a few years now and don't remember where I got it from.

But I suspect like everything else Fibro, different things work for different people. I'm sure one of the more experienced ladies will be along later to share some wisdom. Hope you find some relief soon. x

I did have an electric bed was brilliant especially if I was in bed with a flare day lots of comfy feathered pillows plus my v shaped pillow for resting and could adjust it every so often. I do find a comfy mattress makes all the difference got my present bed and mattress from Laura Ashley in their sale , if I have to change rooms when my grandchildren stay my other mattress is really hard and I wake up in a grump. I found memory foam made me too hot... guy in shop said they are replacing these with gel beds... I have a natural coil spring Mattress... also be careful and try to find out what is inside your mattress... a lot of these new fire retardant materials cause problems for some people...

so I’m told 🙄

Good Morning Daisey, Mattresses are so hard these days, and those coils really dont help - thats when I came accross this memory foam roll mattress from Argos - it has no coils and is supportive but not like laying on concrete, you can even fit it in your car boot because it comes rolled up - you leave it for about 48 hours to puff out - i would recommend, I think it cost about £109.00 - I will definately buy another one when the time comes

Best wishes

Debs

The purpose of a hard mattress is for you to work on relaxing your muscles. Tense muscles do all sorts of things to the body that the body does not like. You may need to see a massage therapist to help relax the muscles.

in reply tojohnsmith

I have one of those and a chiropractor and an Accupuncture bloke! I had a nasty accident a few years back and can’t cope without one!

What treatment regime are you following? My understanding is you know about tight muscles if you have a massage therapist.

Is there a pillow problem?

you could buy a topper for your bed, these come in memory foam and other materials.

I have heard they make a big difference to a hard mattress.

dunhelm have a good selection, or just type into your computer and browse, hope you find comfort soon x

I agree with dillydally1... a mattress topper can change an unsuitable mattress into a much more comfy one and for less money too 👍

hello you the cheapest way to get it more bearable is cover your mattress with a soft quilt under your bottom sheet. we did this with a single bed and made a massive difference .
