PIP Medical

Went for my medical yesterday. When asked why, when my current award does not run out until May next year, I am having to go through this again so soon, the Assessor, a nurse, informed me that W&P feel that a 'depressive' illness fluntuates and can clear, so in all probobilty that is why they call for reassessment early. Does not happen if your illness is purely physical. But it should be acknowledged that Fibro can & does causes us psychological distress; so really we are in a no win situation. She did indicate that she is aware that physically my problems are lifelong but cannot state that her recommendations will be taken up: that is purely down to who decides the other end. But I don't hold out much hope that the mobility part will be downgraded because my mind went blank.

Thank you. I appreciate it.

I too was put thru this process in August, my PIP is until Mar 2019, I asked why the early assessment, I was told mobility can improve with therapies and medications, I asked for home asessment so that the assessor could see the adaptations to my home-bought with PIP allowance, and more still needed, I also now have a walking aid on wheels but that didnt get mentioned in the assessment.. I think the DWP are just trying to get people off this benefit altogether and that those who are stopped will just go away-many people do-but we must stick to our guns and have our rights. To me it doesnt matter if your PIP is for physical, mental or otherwise, if you have the backing of consultants, medics and therapist, it should continue until THEY ALONE agree you have improved,- not many of those letters dictated I bet

Thanks. I really appreciate you responding. Sometimes, I think it is easy to get caught up in our own little web of pain we forget others out there are in the same boat. Take care and good luck.
