I have fibromyalgia and Osteoarthritis plus other conditions. I get Employment Support Allowance and I am in the support group and I get DLA which has been replaced by Personal Independence Payment. It's best to get help with the forms from citizens advice bureau or there is an online help website called benefitsandwork.co.uk. you have too pay to become a member but guides really help. They helped her PIP for my husband. Hope that helps. Take care

FMAUK has membership of Benefits and Work and this enables us to send out the appropriate guides to people with Fibromyalgia. Please email charity@fmauk.org and say which guides you require.

Usually you can make an appointment with the Citizen Advice Bureau to discuss all your finances confidentially, however if there is also a website called Turn2Us that does the same either by telephone or an online form to let you know what you may be entitled too, then you can claim them to see if awarded. The link is below;

benefits-calculator.turn2us...

Of course, when you know do give Janet FMAUK Benefits Advisor a call to discuss claiming and for further advice :)

Hope this helps

Disability Rights UK produce an invaluable guide to the Benefits System called "Disability Rights Handbook".

disabilityrightsuk.org/shop...

It lists all the help that is available. The main benefits that might apply to your situation will be

Employment and Support Allowance (ESA) or Universal Credit (depending on where you live as it is being rolled out nationwide in stages)

Personal Independence Payment (PIP) - you can get this even if you are working

Housing Benefit

Council Tax Reduction

You might be eligible for a Blue Badge, depending on the outcome of your benefit claims for ESA and PIP.
