Benefits......what am I to claim

Hi all, can anyone shed some light on what I am able to claim as getting quite confused with the benefits office, my husband is on ESA and I an at the minimum rate, have been told that would be better off my husband claiming for the both of us? We also claim for housing and council tax. Have lost tax credits as son now flown the nest so we are £300 a month down, am panicking as no one seems to be able to tell us what we are to claim for and how much! This is the first time either of us have been out of work and hate the fact we have been drawn to claiming but through fibro and other health issues we are unable to work, great my body doesn't work and poor hubby his head won't work so make a good pair don't we? So I no some of you have loads of knowledge on my predicament so please shout me the answers : ) thank you xxxxxxxxxxx vikki

Hi Vikki,

All I can advise is that you get in touch with your local CAB and explain your issue with them. They are very clued up on everything like this and have to hand all the forms you will need, they will even help you fill them in.

I agree, I would be in the same muddle you are given what you've said.

I hope this may be of some assistance to you.

I feel your fear Vikki. I'm terrified of what will happen when my son leaves college in a few years. We'll lose the credits because of his age, despite his special needs and DLA status. I don't claim for myself as I am his full time carer but it stresses me out not knowing how this will end up financially. :( CAB are usually very knowledgable about these things so defo speak to them. I would love to know how you get on. :)

Please get in touch with CAB they do have a great deal of knowledge and point you in the right direction. Get as much info on your health from doctors, consultants as you can as this will help you get there quicker.
