Hi there, if your asking would you automatically qualify for PIP benifits based on the fact you have fibro the answer would be no.

It does not matter what illness you have it all depends on how much help you need to deal with your illness. I hope that helps. But there is no reason you shouldn't apply for help if you need it. Good luck :)

Good luck on hopefully getting your diagnosis

If you are not working due to your fibro, then you may be able to claim Employment Support allowance (esa) which is now part of universal credit for new claims

Personal independent payment (pip) can be claimed whether you are working or not

You can find more information on benefits at gov.uk/financial-help-disabled

My advice to you would be to keep a diary for a few weeks on how your fibromyalgia effects you. Note everything you have trouble with from preparing food to washing and dressing. Also note problems with walking climbing stairs etc. Personally as it is your first time applying I would try and get a disability advisor to help you fill in the forms. Fibromyalgia being a invisible condition can be difficult to put down on paper to match the distributors for points.

Hello you will no doubt been replied with the answer no you do not automatically qualify for benefits. PIP is a benefit to help you with your daily living activities and mobility issues, you should take a self test assessment and see how you fair. Be honest with yourself because if you do apply for pip you will have to justify your answers given in your application form at your face to face assessment.

I would advise try applying for PIP which can be awarded if you work, be warned the process from your initial phone call to DWP to apply will be anything upto 6 months before you get a face to face assessment or award notification. Get as much evidence, medical reports diagnosis, physios reports that support your abilities in relation to the PIP descriptiors as this is what your assessment is based on not your diagnosis, disability, prescription medication your taking, but how you respond to the PIP descriptiors repeatedly, safely and in a timely manner.

Hi Lauren, I got basic rate pip having fibro & osteoarthritis with no problems but I would advise getting help on the form filling CAB were very helpful. As far as pill popping goes I'm on 1000mg Naproxen & 20mg of Citalopram this has taken the edge off it. Good luck, John.
