Hi everyone! I have fibromyalgia and have recently been to the doc to discuss a different issue-he recommended I have blood tests. Just had the results and I have a folate deficiency. Does anyone know if this is fibro related? I intend to take folic acid in tablet form and up the greenery in my diet but any more info would be appreciated. The docs receptionist who gave me my results told me to google it and take it from there!! I was a little taken aback to be hones!

I would check this out with your dr.
Hi I have just looked it up, it states due to medication gabapentin and others. Have a chat with your GP. Sorry couldn’t help more
Ask for a telephone consult with the Dr. Sounds about right for my surgery. Doctors get annoyed if you tell them you have consulted Dr. Google and then tell you to go Google something. I was told to go and Google Fibromyalgia at my diagnosis appointment because the Doctor couldn't possibly spare the time to talk about it having diagnosed 5 cases of fibro that day!
Maybe he could record his suggestions. I know that really wouldn't help.
Think that perhaps doctors should have booklets available to give out or at least details of websites to help us. I know when my husband had his first heart attack we were inundated with literature from British Heart Foundation and the hospital and the rehab centre and phone numbers of specialist nurses to answer any questions. Amazing difference - Fibro seems to be the Cinderella condition - no funding for anything. My local rheumatology dept refuses to see fibro patients. They are immediatley discharged back to GP care.
Personally wendywooster I would report the receptionist, too may of them give out bad advise, they are NOT trained in medical issues and should not do this, being iron and folic defficient is not always diet it can be a bleed somwhere therfore you should contact your gp a.s.a.p and make him aware of the receptionists advice!!
I have fibromyalgia for 25yrs and never was told I was low on folic acid. However my husband was told he was low on folic acid and they wanted to do more blood work but getting him to the doctor for blood work is an uphill battle. So I got him folic acid supplements which I set up in his med tray. He hasn’t been back to the doctor so don’t know of anymore on the folic acid deficiency thing. 🤷🏼♀️
I do have a strange question it just happened so that was why I’m asking here. Does anyone else have occasional heart flutters. Is this a fibro thing? It doesn’t happen that often but through I would ask because it just happened.
I think 🤔 I marked it down on a symptom list at on of my doctors but it never came up as a chief complaint. But if yours is fluttering all the time that isn’t good. Have you seen the cardiologist about it?
I’ve been told I have a folate deficiency too
