Hello I am new here.

I have been suffering with Fibromyalgia for three years and only now have been properly diagnosed a few months ago after changing my doctor.

I get shooting pains in a lot of areas of my body, numbness in my toes and hands and my joints are painful especially in the morning when I get out of bed. When I climb the stairs my legs go tight like I have done a sprint and I get tired easily.

I am on Gabapentin and paracetamol and co codamol. I cannot take Ibuprofen or aspirin any more as I now have stomach issues because of taking narproxen/Ibuprofen for a long time (which I now know did help as the pain and fatigue has worsted again).

I had the mirena coil for 16 years and thought that it maybe the cause of the Fibromyalgia. I had this taken out about three months ago and was told I needed a hysterectomy as I had 3 fibroid, one 6 cm, one 3 cm and one 2 cm. I still have the pains etc. and am know wondering if the Fibroids could be causing some of my symptoms.

Has any one else had the same issues.

Hello Kacky69

Welcome to the forum :)

You may be surprised to know that it is very common for people to wait years for a definitive diagnosis of Fibromyalgia.

Even though you have had it for some time I still think it is worth looking at our mother site for more info fmauk.org

You have just found yourself a whole bunch of new friends who know exactly how you feel.

I have lived with Fibro & ME for 36 years.

You may like to look into locking your posts. Here is a link on how to do this:

If you still need some help, please do let me know.

Wishing you a wonderful weekend

Hi there Kacky69 here's wishing you a very warm welcome to a very understanding and friendly group. I can only answer to how I feel and I do get a lot of stiffness in the mornings but I also have a lot of back problems so I can not put it all down to my fibro. But it is a factor for sure. I am sorry your suffering and if your meds are not helping maybe a word with your doctor may help. There are other meds out there maybe you could talk to your doctor about them if the ones your taking are not helping. Please feel welcomed. xx

Now and again, mainly paracetamol as I suffer with IBS and cocodamol can cause constipation.
