Ibuprofen

I know that taking ibuprofen with pred. is usually not a good idea but I remember reading somewhere here (tried searching FAQ’s but couldn’t find anything) that occasionally it’s OK. I’m on 7mg pred. daily and have had a dodgy sacroiliac joint for years.

(Just too easy to do at 82) I was taking Ibuprofen which at least helped me get through the day until I read that you shouldn't take it with Pred. Now that I'm down to 1mg I'm wondering if I could go back to taking it again.

My husband has moderate arthritic pain in knees and ankle and has used Piroxicam gel but he now wants to change to Ibuprofen gel which, apparently has fewer general side effects. Also, his research indicates that Ibuprofen gel is the more effective of the two.

She gave me Ibuprofen Gel, it worked and I ran the marathon, so I would like to use it on my thigh. Advice please

Using omeprazole is a good way of preventing any ulcers caused by ibuprofen and ibuprofen can be hard on kidneys which needs to be watched. I have 2 stents., angina, ckd and idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis.. I work with my consultants to keep on balance.

It is not great to take too much ibuprofen which is what I have been doing. My body is also getting used to the ibuprofen and it is becoming less effective. I came across a supplement called PEA (palmitoylthanolamide) which is supposed to be good for arthritis and other inflammation.

Ive stopped taking ibuprofen like 4hr sweets. Slowly taking another to help with reflux. So far so good, staying warey. But positive for last few days 😁💪👍 stay strong all 😘. Health.

Good afternoon, would you be able to let me know if it's safe to take Ibuprofen after a fall to ease the pain, I'm still waiting for test results for liver problems, so unsure at the moment of the diagnosis. Kind regards Karen Bear

Hi tore a shoulder muscle playing with the dog question pre PMR followed RICE with the addition of either an Ibuprofen patch or Diclafenac patch on this type of injury would it be OK to use one now currently on 8mg Pred thanks in advance

I read - too late - that you shouldn’t take ibuprofen if you are on Corticosteroids. I am on 7.5 mgs. Can I ignore that for a few days. Or is that very unwise? Thanks as always.

does anyone else have the pain or dull discomfort and have had for years but it comes and goes or you take an ibuprofen to cover it or it goes after a drink or it goes anyway but then reappears or you just plain ignore it or MASK it instead of standing up to it cos your scared of outcome,shit aint it

I don't take ibuprofen tablets for pain because of my GCAPMR plus IBS. I know it's not a good idea on preds. Could I use the gel on my neck, though? Or would that find its way into blood or stomach? Paracetamol does very little.

I can't take ibuprofen (trigger) and struggle to find pain relief (at the moment for shoulders). Has anyone tried TENS and found it caused no problems? Thanks Gary #tens

After experiencing a few bad days, she took ibuprofen and had a very good day, the best ever. Following a setback over a couple of days and another visit to the GP, she took more ibuprofen and has since had 3 to 4 good days (fingers crossed).

I have a bad back but have had asthma since birth. I have just read your really informative posts about possible effects so will limp to the pharmacist tomorrow before applying gel. Cheers. Will let you know .

I can't take ibuprofen. I gave up on doctor's!!!!!!I I went to Indian land and lady, Cherokee, gave me marijuana. It was a miracle. My headache disappeared. My joint pain left. I cried. It felt like a miracle. Nothing, I mean nothing had helped. But this did.

My Physiotherapist advised using a Pain relieving gel - but I said they contain Ibuprofen and I'm not allowed that as I'm on Apixaban. He said ask a Pharmacist as 'they will know'. I'm not so sure about that as some Haematologists don't know about MPNs. Any advice please gratefully received.

About a year ago I developed lower back pain and with your good advise took ibuprofen and that cleared it up. This time it is different I am not sure if I have a flare or not. I have been on 2mg for most of the year and happy.
