I am taking Hydroxy I suffer with arthritis do any of you taking this medication use ibuprofen is it okay

I know that taking ibuprofen with pred. is usually not a good idea but I remember reading somewhere here (tried searching FAQ’s but couldn’t find anything) that occasionally it’s OK. I’m on 7mg pred. daily and have had a dodgy sacroiliac joint for years.

I emailed my Macmillan nurse and she said “If you are not taking ibuprofen daily its ok - its ok to take it only if needed “ I really want to protect my kidney, any ideas for alternatives or is it ok to take Ibuprofen occaisionally?

Does anyone else find that regular painkillers (paracetamol, ibuprofen, aspirin etc) don’t work on endo pain? If so do you know why?

I understand that ibuprofen can interactwith anticoalgulates and should be avoided. Normally paracetamol does the job for me . I have a painful back strain, is it ok to take co-codamol.

Can anyone recommend a pain killer that isn't ibuprofen? It feels like someone took a hammer to my legs and hips, at different times of the day.

It does have ibuprofen in it. (Diclofenac..a NSAID). I suspect that the stronger doses of prednisone have been “hiding” the pain and it’s now surfaced a bit more noticeable. Just wondering about the ibuprofen issue. Thank you for any insights!! So happy to have this site.

(Just too easy to do at 82) I was taking Ibuprofen which at least helped me get through the day until I read that you shouldn't take it with Pred. Now that I'm down to 1mg I'm wondering if I could go back to taking it again.

Can't say topical ibuprofen did anything, but she was trying to be helpful so I will give it a try!

It is not great to take too much ibuprofen which is what I have been doing. My body is also getting used to the ibuprofen and it is becoming less effective. I came across a supplement called PEA (palmitoylthanolamide) which is supposed to be good for arthritis and other inflammation.

Using omeprazole is a good way of preventing any ulcers caused by ibuprofen and ibuprofen can be hard on kidneys which needs to be watched. I have 2 stents., angina, ckd and idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis.. I work with my consultants to keep on balance.

Ive stopped taking ibuprofen like 4hr sweets. Slowly taking another to help with reflux. So far so good, staying warey. But positive for last few days 😁💪👍 stay strong all 😘. Health.

I suffer with PN in my legs and arms it worse in my legs I am on Amitriptyline does of 10 mgs to 25 mgs I occasionally take ibuprofen which you have to not take regularly as it can have bad side affects are there other anti inflammatory safe medication to ease PN pain?.

Hi Does anyone know if you are taking Hydroxycarbamide it is advisable not to take Ibuprofen or anti inflammatory I am thinking I have read this somewhere.

with methotrexate it lowers your immune system has anyone else had colds while on it and caught any bugs and do you stay on it if you are unwell come off it for a week while unwell or do you just keep on methotrexate as you can’t take ibuprofen can you Thankyou for everyone commenting helps my anxiety
