Hello

I have just joined this group, hoping to get to know other people with Fibromyalgia And other problems. I think this is a great way to understand what were all going through and help each other out.

Thank you

Hi jungleLand16,

I’m new here too, I’ve had fibromyalgia and CFS since 2004 and have been on many meds, has anyone told you anything about changing your diet, certain foods increase pain and others help as people with fibromyalgia don’t produce serotonin but you can get it with certain foods, are you on any medication, I have IBS and a wheat intolerance too due to the fibromyalgia so I don’t get the fibre I need to open my vowel which is another story, hope this helps 😊

Hello Josie-Anne, the medications I was on reacted against each other and that was why I had the Serotonin syndrome. I’m ok now since doctors re-evacuated my medications. Yeah I do need to change my diet I have put on so much weight since my hysterectomy and the HRT and the Citalopram I was on for the symptoms of menopause etc. I need to loose at least 2 stone, My IBS flares up all the time and yes your right it is diet related, I also think its wheat intolerance too.I am going to look into changing my diet I have just joined Weight Watchers, so i will see what happens,

Thank You

Your welcome, I still have a problem with my hormones, post menopausal ladies should be 200-300 mine was 928 then it’s dropped to 725 and is still like that, my doctor said he can’t do anything for me but I know it’s the male hormone I’ve got too much off, I also have water retention too, I used to be in a size 10-12 even at 52 but now I’m 14-16 and I’m so embarrassed 😞 having a sluggish bowel and having a problem where I can’t go doesn’t help either, I’ve got movicol and lactalose but it’s a family thing, my sister and niece also have fibromyalgia and bowel problems too.

Hello and welcome. And, well hhellloooo Bruce! Phwoar! 😂

Hi, I have just joined too... Suspected fibromyalgia... not on meds for anything. Don't want to start on any either. Was at first physio today... Hadn't needed that since car crash whiplash years ago and then had physio over 3 years. Very hard to move around with the stiffness after what seemed to me an inflammatory flareup of a few weeks, which caused frozen shoulders and super stiff lower back, brain fog and recurring chronic fatigue. Impossible to find a nagging pain free position to sleep! Hoping for some ideas here to try, to avoid any meds. So far the odd paracetamol when I really can't sleep is all I've taken, and one day I did resort to lying down in shallow stony mountain stream behind my house... the ice cold water shock of that gave me quite a few hours of improvement!

Funny how shock works for the pain. I found plunging my hands and feet into hot water stopped the stinging sensation for a little while. The hotter the longer the relief last. Eventually I manged to scald all the skin off my feet so stopped doing it. Even now I'm soooo tempted to do it again. Plunging my head under the cold shower or into iced water clears the head and reduces the headache but again I took it too far and got what I think was a bit of frostbite on my cheek. Nuts (both the condition and me)
