Hi,

Just wondering if the more expensive deep heat sprays/creams are better than the £1.20 version I've used this week that I got from the pound shop. The brand names can be expensive.

Hi minesawwhiskey

That one mouthful of a username lol.

I not sure that any brand names would make a difference really.

Can i suggest speaking to pharmacy to be certain.

Good luck

:):)

Hello

The ingredients should be listed on the back of the box? You can compare those to the big brand names you have in mind with a quick search online (they list the ingredients online).

I always try and buy the generic non big brands if I can. They are all regulated for safety, so if they are the same ingredients you are simply saving quite a lot of money and not losing quality of product 😄.

Hi minesawhiskey I'm not an expert by any means but as far as I know. Poundshop sell products that are maybe old stock that is not selling any more. Maybe company get new packaging or jus can't sell or its just been discontinued.

I think you have to be very careful not to buy items that are out of date, obviously food & suncream but I don't know if deap heat goes out of date, if not, I'm sure it's fine.

You must ask your doctor if this is ok to use though with certain medications, it's best to check because I was using something similar yrs ago & my doctor said, no because it had some pain relief in it which I should not have used it with. I use Movelat Gel or Cream now which is prescribed by GP and its very good.

Hope that helps

Luv Jan xx

Hi, thanks for your advice.

I did notice one time before applying something that the rules said not to use if allergic to aspirin (I didn't expect the product to say that as wasn't ingesting it! Always good to check labels and ask doc. Thanks for the reply, I'll look into Movelat gel.

Your welcome hun ☺ Ahh maybe it was aspirin now you say that. I know my doctor freaked out when I told her what I was putting on my back & hips, I even used to rub on my feet lol. Xx

I always compare the ingredients and the sell by date and if the ingredients are the same and in the same proportions I go for the pound shop everytime. It is still dear but I find Musselflex just as good as Pernaton and there are more offers o. The internet. I have found the big pots of freeze gel off the internet just as good as the very expensive brand named tiny tubes you get in the chemists. If it suits you and doesn't clash with any medication I would buy it.x

Many thanks for the suggestions, I'll look some up on the internet and check with the doc. My legs/muscles are sore and just don't seem to want to work properly, plus I'm always tired. First results with deep heat were promising but now not noticing much improvement. Still, on the positive I handed in a CV , reckon I might be able to do some office cleaning type work if my body allows.

Good luck on the job front. These rubs tend to only give temporary relief in most cases, I think the actual gentle massaging helps as well. Unfortunately I now only have a shower but if my muscles were really aching a bath in warm water and Epsom salts always helped.x

There have been some comments made on the television about generic and named brands. The cost difference is quite considerable even when the ingredients are much the same.

The only thing with some tablets is that the "fillers", which are used to bulk up the tablets, can be cheap, inferior and in some very few cases cause a reaction. For most people though they find the same relief whether from generic or named brands. Why pay more?

Hi mineawhiskey,

You may like to talk to your GP about this prescription cream - it is really hot though and not for those who are sensitive to medications. Please patch test first .......

More information about Capsacin Cream can be found here via Arthritis Research UK plus recent trials for Fibro

Hope this helps

Hi minesawhiskey

I have never used them myself but I agree with Mdaisy that it would probably be best to ask for something stronger on prescription. I want to sincerely wish you all the best of luck and please take care of yourself my friend.

All my hopes and dreams for you

Temporary measure. Been into Boots, they've got some of the remedies you've all mentioned. For now gone back to £1.20 Deep Freeze this time. Exploring the cheaper options first. Maybe g.p prescription for stronger stuff in future.
