heat pad: just seen on Lidl site for... - Fibromyalgia Acti...
heat pad
I was on a chat site and a few people were saying that their heat pads were faulty, and one person said they narrowly averted a fire caused by it!
Half expecting a recall on these products due to so many being returned faulty.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.I was hoping to get one myself till I heard about this.
Gentle hugs,

Hello wizzy55. I have fibromyalgia and find any temperature drop causes me a lot of pain. My wife went to Lidl's about 18 months ago and found an electric blanket that is the size of your back and neck, it can fit inside your outer clothing and is supplied by the mains electricity.
I have two during the winter I use it nearly every day and swear by it, if your problems are temperature sensitive it can be a great help.
The ones I have come with an auto cut out timer to stop you getting burnt if you fall asleep as I often do if the pain is bad and I have taken any diazepam.
Hope this helps.

Hi if you go on pinestry they show you how to make your own ,with rice etc nice and simple and a lot cheaper , good luck. Chris
Good luck with that wizzy55 and I genuinely hope that they work really well for you!
All my hopes and dreams for you
Ken
Thanks for the nod I need a new one.x
I have the neck and the shawl ones, and they are fantastic. The shawl one I have had for over a year when my pain is bad I go to bed with it, you can choose the temperature you want and it goes off after 3hrs I could never be without it and use it practically every single day. I alo bought the mother-in-law and daughter-in-law one for Christmas and they have had no problems.
You might be lucky to get it for £12.99 I did and there was even a choice of cream or brown but be fast as they have been in our store for over a week and when I went back with my hubby (who had seen them but not bought it not knowing whether it would be of any use) they were nearly all gone. Haven't tried it yet as OH put my Butrans patch just where I wanted to wear it and of course they mustn't be overheated so will have to wait to changing day when another one can be put elsewhere it has got to be better than a hot water bottle.
Hi Rosewine
Just reading your post I hope you don't mind me going of the subject of neck wraps I bought one from lidl last week it's great. What I wanted to ask I was on fenytel 12 patch for a couple of weeks had to come of them because of the side effects (I'm funny with medication)
Can you give me a bit of advice with the butrans please. I need something I can't cope with my pain. I hope you don't mind me asking.
Take care x
would love to help, but never had fenytel patches, Yet!!!!
Hi Cloggs sorry for the delay in replying. I did a big post to you but for some reason it wouldn't let me send and this has been the first opportunity I have had to come back to you. Been on Butrans 5mg for about 3 months now as a replacement for DHC Continus 60 mg slow release tablets as they didn;t seem to be doing all that much and were making me terribly constipated. Apart from the first couple of days when I felt a bit spaced out and very flat I have had no problems with them and the old tum is much better. I did think they were much better for the pain but realise now that it was the warm weather that seemed to be helping as now the weather has changed so the pains seem to have come back but I think they are slightly improved with the Butrans. I do take Pregablin, Ibuprofen and Paracetamol as well and if the nerve pain gets very bad Lidocaine patches but the doc is not keen on me using them too often now I am on the Butrans. I prefer the patch in some ways as I am on so many tablets for pain, plus high chlorestrol and high blood pressure that I sometimes feel like I am a walking smartie tube! I certainly think they are worth a go as the medication is gently going into your blood stream all the time and I have seen quite a few posts where people have found Butrans better than Fentyl and vica versa. I always start off with whatever is the lowest dose of any medication as like you I have had some very bad side effects with some meds so I am very wary and of course it is always best to try and get away with the lowest possible dose you can. I know some of the medication I am on could be increased but it is a trade off with having some sort of life and being in some pain or being drugged up to the eyeballs and having no life so I have chosen the first option. Let me know how you get on. Soft hugs.x
Hi Rosewine
Thank you very much for replying I had a terrible time on fenytel I too am on a bp tablet and have high cholestrol I would prefer the patch to tablets I have terrible side effects from medication I'm taking tramodol at the moment this is about the 5th time I've tried to master them. I will try and get an appointment and let you know how I get on.
Lots of hugs xx
I wish I could take Tramadol as it did ease the base quite a bit when I combined it with the Pregablin but it gave me the most strange headache that never ceased day or night. I stuck with them as I was in so much pain at the time but in the end it really got me down as I was never without it so had to swop. Strange how one drug suits one and not another. Yes let me know how you get on.x
I got one from llydl for £12.99 and it's fantastic. It's the one that turns its self off after 90 mins.
