been to the dentist to get some work done in August since then I have been struggling with pain and sensitivity. Is there a link to Fibro and tooth pain/ sensitivity.

I’m afraid there is, you should ask your dentist to check your gums and teeth, and make sure it’s the nerve endings, you can also use sensitive toothpaste, I found this helped.

I went in due to high level of intensity. I was sent to see a specialist who determined that there was a crack in the teeth and needs an overlay. Since they start the preparation for the overlay it’s been worse. I can’t eat or drink, sleep, talk everything hurts. Today they gave me antibiotics am just frustrated, tired.

Any suggestion please

Aww bless, I can imagine that’s painful, I really don’t know what to suggest for that, other than pain killers.

am using sensodine toothpaste as they suggest I have even gone to see a consultant.

This is my second dose of antibiotics.

Is your teeth or tooth infected??, keep rinsing your mouth with warm salty water, use salt sparingly, this might help.

I got a second dose of antibiotic today. Not sure if it infected as the gums are not inflamed.

You are lowering your immune system by taking these, if you don’t need them, It bloody annoys me when dentists don’t look into things further .

I am due to go in a couple of weeks, waited 2 years, and I had a bad fall hitting my cheek and teeth, so I’m wondering what 💩, they are going to try and throw at me???

That’s exactly my thoughts, because whenever I take them I always come down with a cold. I will try to get through the weekend as my appointment is on Monday for a root canal.

I wish it was investigated before the went a head and recommended an overlay as this got progressively worst since they started the process. Now they want me to pay £750 for the root canal when I just payed them £850 for the overlay which they have totally destroyed.

I feel so deflated sadden by the entire ordeal and this could have been avoided.

I think your probably right, they reckon people with B12 deficiency are also sensitive to any dental treatment, I'm due a couple of filling soon, and I'm dreading the process, I've had a filling done previously on the same tooth and I nearly jumped out the seat and that was with the tooth supposedly numbed up, I've already stated I'm wanting "extra" injections to numb the area up, clove oil is a temporary relief if you've got tooth ache at the moment just pour a bit on some cotton wool and bite on it, it tastes horrible, but it helps ease any pain 🫣

HI CHEZZE, YES THERE IS AND I CAN NEVER REMEMBER IT ALL. ITS MUSCOLOSKELETAL FACIAL PAIN SOMETHING LIKE THAT,PROBABLY SPELT WRONG BUT ITS CLOSE. A 3YR NIGHTMARE I HAD, AND I WERE SCARED TO DEATH OF DENTISTS, MAJOR FEAR. I STARTED TO GET PAIN IN FACE MOUTH HEAD. TEETH FELT LIKE OLD STYLE GRAVESTONES. SHOOTING PAINS THRU JAW, Fce and head. IT WERE EVERYWHERE, PAIN WERE SO BAD IT WAS CLOSE TO SUICIDAL. I JUST COULDNT TAKE ANYMORE. LONG STORY SHORT I BEGGED LOCAL DENTIST FOR HELP. EXPLAINING MY LIFETIME FEAR OF DENTISTS AND THATS HOW BAD PAIN WAS THAT I WAS THERE, I WAS SO SENSITIVE EVEN THE THE TOOL THEY JUST CHECK AND COUNT TEETH WITH HAD ME IN TEARS. ALL MY TEETH WERE HEALTHY BUT SENSITIVE AND TOLD ME USE SENSITIVE TOOTHPASTE . HE HAD TO SEE ME END OF SURGERY EVERY APPT I HAD THE NUMBING JABS WOULDNT NUMB ME FROM THE PAIN. HE WAS GIVING ME THE HIGHEST DOSE ALLOWED BUT DIDNT WORK. CUTTING SHORT AGAIN, I BEG AND PLEADED FOR HIM TAKE TEETH OUT, BUT HE WOULDNT, SAID HE HADNT GONE THRU YRS OF TRAINING TO RIP OUT PERFECTLY HEALTHY TEETH. TOOK ME OVER 2YRS OF BEGGING, HE WENT TO SOMEONE HIGHER THAN HIMSELF FOR ADVICE.HE TOOK ABOUT 4 OUT AND OMG IT WAS LIKE RELEASING A PRESSURE VALVE, ONLY LASTED ABOUT MONTH THEN BACK TO SQUARE 1. FEW WEEKS ON HE AGREED TAKE MORE, ANOTHER 3/4. I WAS SCREAMING BLUE-MURDER NURSE SAID IR WERE LIKE SOMETHING FROM VICTORIAN TIMES.... SCARED HER SO MUCH SHE LEFT THE JOB. BY THIS TIME H MADE UP DENTURES FOR ME, BUT AFTER A SHORT TIME I COULDNT GET THEM OUT QUICK ENOUGH. THE PAIN AND MIGRAINES WERE VICIOUS. 2 OR 3 MONTH AGAIN BACK TO SQUARE 1 BUT THIS TIME I WAS BOOKED IN HOSPITAL. THE REST WERE COMING OUT, HOSPITAL REFUSED AT FIRST BECAUSE HEALTHY TEETH UNT MY DENTIST EXPLAINED THE HORROR WE HAD ALREADY BEEN THRU...... I CAME OUT OF ANAESTHETIC WHILE REMOVING THE LAST TOOTH AT THE BACK, AND IT FELT LIKE HE WERE LIFTING MY HEAD UP WITH PLIERS BY MY TEETH. IN THE END HE COULDNT STAND THE SCREAMING AND SAID LEAVE IT. HE;D NEVER KNOWN ANYONE WITH HYPERSENSITIVITY AS BAD AS MINE, I HAD SWOLLEN THROAT FROM SCREAMING APPARENTLY AND I KEPT CHOKING TIL IT HAD SETTLED DOWN. I STILL CANT WEAR DENTURES, ITS LIKE BODY REJECTS THEM, TAKES ME RIGHT BACK TO PAIN JUST NOT SO HARSH. I STILL GET PAIN NOW AND AGAIN BUT ITS A BREEZE COMPARED TO WHAT I WENT THRU. I TRIED TO RESEARCH SOME INFO ONLINE BUT NEVER FOUND ANY.... EXCEPT A PASSWORDED LINK FOR MEDICAL STAFF ECT I DOWNLOADED EVERYTHING I FOUND AND TOOK IT DENTIST, HE CALLED ME UP SAYING IT HELPS TO UNDERSTAND MORE, AND ANOTHER OF HIS PATIENTS SOUNDS LIKE THEY GOING THRU A MILD VERSION, THEY TOO HAD FIBROMYALGIA .

TRY EVERYTHING BEFORE RESORTING TO EXTRACTIONS. I REALLY WAS SUICIDAL WITH THE PAIN OR I WOULD NEVER HAVE GONE DENTIST THAT DAY XX

Wow what an ordeal. My heart goes out to you. It’s sad that we have to live these experiences because there is such little info out there on Fibromyalgia and the impact it it having on all our lives. I agree the the pain in my head in my head is suicidal for sure I was up at midnight with my head in my hands. My husband don’t know what to do anymore. Am hoping that on Monday the will start to take the nerve out so I can get some relief.

Just like Anji-UK am in the process of having all mine out. Had the last top 5 out in Sept am and starting the process for the remaining bottom ones in Dec.

I definitely found the pain unbearable as it was my whole head that seemed to ache.

One thing I do recommend is Orajel. It gives instant relief and you can use it as you need it

HOW COME YOU RESORTED TO ALL OUT? WERENT THEY HEALTHY? IF WERE, DIDNT DENTIST ARGUE THE TOSS WITH YOU? THAT LINK I GAVE DENTIST SAID DO NOT EXTRACT HEALTHY TEETH BEFORE U DID EVERYTHING AND MORE. WAS TO LATE FOR ME THEN. PROBLEM I HAVE NOW IS I CANT WEAR DENTURES AND MY GUMS R WEARING AWAY, THERES BARELY ANY GUM HEIGHT AT FRONT BOTTOM FOR DENTURE TO SIT ON. IVE BEEN LIKE I AM NOW NO TEETH,FOR OVER 20 YRS, AND SINGLE FOR ALMOST 20YRS, I CANT TALK PROPERLY IN THEM, I CERTAINLY CANT EAT AND BEFORE LONG IM TRYING GET THEM OUT, HARD BECAUSE I PUT THAT MUCH FIXATIVE ON TO HOLD THEM, ANY LESS AND THEY FELL OUT.THEN IM LEFT WITH A MOUTHFUL OF GUNK, I TRIED THEM PAPER FIXATIVES THINK IT CALLED SEABOND......I COULDNT GET THEM TO WORK. GONE THRU ENDLESS BIOPSIES TO FIND WHICH CELLS HAVE GAINED SPEED? SO I NOW HAVE SOMETHING BIGGER TO DEAL WITH THAN LACK OF TEETH..... I HAD BIOPSY ON SPINE AND NEVER THOUGHT TO MENTION FIBRO, ANOTHER SCREAMING MATCH FROM ME, THEY WERE HAMMERING ON MY SPINE LIKE THEY WERE DIGGING FOR COLD, AND THE PAIN FOR WEEKS AFTER. FIBROMYALGIA HAS A LOT TO ANSWER FOR. ALL THEM THAT SHRUG IT OFF, SAYING DORIS NEXT DOOR IS OK WITH HERS, FRANK STILL RIDES HIS BIKE BLAH BLAH I USE 2 STICKS AND STUMBLE. I CANT BALANCE ON MOTORBIKES ANYMORE, I CANT CAMP BECAUSE CRAWLING ON KNEES IS A MASSIVE NO-NO. ALL THEM THAT DIS OUR DISABILITIES WANT LIVE MY LIFE FOR A WEEK........24-48HRS AND THEY BE BEGGING FOR THEIR OWN LIFE BACK.

Good morning Chezze. What a shame. I all too often wake up with every tooth in my mouth being sensitive. I used to be a dental nurse so I was sure there was nothing actually wrong with my teeth or gums. My dentist confirmed this and told me it was fibro pain. His father had insisted that he took out his teeth because he also had fibro and experienced pain every morning. The dentist did take his teeth out. Unfortunately for his father the pain didn't go away. If only it were that simple. Best wishes.

Hi. I am super sensitive ,even more so since I’ve had Fibro (just me personally) i am due in December and the clean and polish bit (hygienist I get them too do by hand ) at some point I know they are gonna say some dreaded fillings , they do sedation which I have had or I am gonna ask what oral tablet I could take too really do the same job as I took 10mg of diazepam the other week for a nose examination and it didn’t do a thing. I’ve always been scared🤣and previous dentist had too stop drilling as I screamed out let along the numbing injections 🤣I am under dental scheme private dentist , gosh prices of dental care is a lot of money for people too find. They sell Duraphat toothpaste at the dentist and you can buy on the internet. I hope soon you get your treatment done and everything g settles down xx

the replies you really are not alone in this. My dentist told me to coat

my whole tooth or whole area

with sensodyne and leave it on - not particularly great for palate

but took the edge off definitely. i have since also had enlighten treatment which helped but was not cheap (£600 bloomin quid!!)

Definitely there is a link between fibro and toothache. Every time my fibro pain flares up I get pain in my teeth and gums, also get jaw pain. And other days it's normal. I don't have dental problems, my teeth have all been checked and there is no issues. So it's purely related to fibromyalgia. And because fibro is related to muscle, joint, ligaments pain, it's no surprise. There is joints and muscles in our face too. Fibro affects your body not just in separate parts, but also as a WHOLE. It even caused me trigeminal neuralgia. Hope it helps.
