Yey at last my appointment has come through after the last mess up (fog) ....End of march but not the right date for me ...I need my daughter with me and can't travel a long distance by bus as my back is too painful when the bus judders so might as for advice to change to when my daughter has her Easter break and see if they can pay for a taxi ...

Sorry to give you bad news on 2 fronts but it is better that you know, firstly you have to pay all expenses yourself and claim back costs, i have never found anyone that has got money back for taxi from DWP, when i had to visit a centre and i had to get a taxi from the station as bus stop at the centre is too far away and was up hill and too steep for manual wheelchair so i got a taxi, they paid for train but would not even consider my receipt for taxi.

Also in centre there was a notice saying children are not allowed in to room for face to face assessment and cannot be left unaccompanied in reception area, so if you take your daughter you would also need to take another adult to stay with her.

Sorry to give you bad news but its better than you turning up and getting another appointment cancelled.

I have traveled by taxi to my assessments a few times and they always have paid for my taxi, but you need to call them in advance to let them know.

You could phone them and ask for an other date too, hopefully they can change it to the holidays for you. Good luck!

They do not pay for taxis!!! My husband tried to get a home assessment and he was declined but they put a taxi on for him instead and they paid for it because of he's problems getting to the centre. They won't just go out of there way to provide one there has to be good reason then you have to fight for it.

No they won't amend my date for a later one due to the fact they saying I changed it once but it wasn't me that changed it it was them grrr ...Hopefully my babysitter won't let me down or else I will have to take her and she will have to wait outside on her own ...They know I got a child so why couldn't they make it a week later when she would be on school break ...Do annoyed and this stress is killing me ...
