I'm so vexed at the physio
I have booked to go to a Phisio for fibromyalgia not much much point then do u get a lot of pain all over how do u cope
The pain is all over but random areas. Going to pain management really helped as they can see you individual after a group assessment if you think they could help. I really thought I needed a cbt (cognitive behavior therapy) due to some issues but she said they can't help but seems like I went to the wrong ppl. Ask your doctor to refer you to pain management and then you will find some help because they work along with other networks. There are psychological therapist and pain specialist and phyiso when you get one to one assessment and give you what you need. I cope with massaging and I get my husband to press on my tight muscles to relase it then massage over it. Just to point out its very painful but worth it at the end. I use heat. I use bath salts. Swimming helps. Enjoy what you do as that distracs you. Forgive me for my bad spelling. If you want to ask for anything else feel free.
Sorry to hear you can not continue with hydrotherapy, is it possible for you to ask if you could use the hydrotherapy pool, when it is not being used by the physiotherapist, surely there must be some time when nobody is using it... then you can relax in the warm water and just a few exercises you can manage yourself.
Have you tried your local swimming pool?
Maybe just bobbing about there will help and if they have a jacuzzi I find that helps me.
Take care and best wishes.
In my local area you can have 6 sessions of hydro on the NHS because of the waiting lists, they then offer us a "self help group" it costs £6 per session payable In advance for 6 sessions-no refunds. Its now out of action due to funding crisis! I do think the white collar workers at some of these Trusts have their head in the sand-a paying session must be able to bring in funds to keep it going with the number of people they say treat! I now have to pay to use a private pool out of Town at £35 pr session or suffer. I have written to a Board Director ( a popular dr who I have worked with) to ask his opinion about keeping the pool open I have even offered myself as a volunteer to keep it clean & tidy with a life saving coach present. Lets see if he agrees.
Hi there
It is always worth asking your GP whether they can find you a Physio who specialises in Fibro.
I also have HMS so it's very important for me that my Physio knows what they're doing.
I had to wait quite a long time for an appointment but it has been worth it.

How can she discharge you for fibro ? I was given hydrotherapy for fibro and it is best for me of exercise for us as we are supported by the water and thd heat relaxes the muscles.
Hi Dimplez18
I am so genuinely sorry to read that my friend and how weird? I had physio for my Fibro as I could not do the Hydrotherapy due to my COPD. I undertake a very gentle exercise routine that lasts about 20 minutes daily.
I want to sincerely wish you all the best of luck and please take care of yourself.
All my hopes and dreams for you
Ken
I went to the small hospital in my local town to see a Physiotherapist regarding my fibromyaligia and I had the same experience, he was quite abrupt in his insistence he could do nothing for me . After a year or so I plucked up the courage to persuade another Dr at my Surgery to make me an appointment with a larger hospital a few miles away. The Physio there had a completely different attitude, admittedly I also asked for help regarding sciatica. She recommended certain stretching exercises in the hydro pool which is in the hospital. I received three free lessons and am able to continue as long as I want to for £5 a session. The very warm water is absolute bliss and exercise is much easier, am happy to say at least my sciatica has not troubled me for a long time. This hydro pool is used by hundreds of people with differing conditions. Perhaps it is worth mentioning you have another muscle type condition as well as fibro to gain more help. Wishing you well.

Hi Dimplez18
I was discharged from the Physiotherapy in those early days (10 years ago) too and I can understand the frustration as you desperately want the help with Fibro to alleviate the symptoms. However, I wouldn't worry as perhaps being discharged and now referred to the Pain Clinic may be the best or even quicker route to getting Hydrotherapy etc.
Hope the Pain Clinic are able to help you as we all know how absolutely dreadful you can feel with this awful painful illness
