I do. My vitamin D levels used to be really good (in the past I worked a physical job that involved being outside pretty much all day) but since my health deteriorated, I began supplementing. Simply because I'm not outside for very long and I know I'm not giving my body much of a chance to produce it. I take an oral spray. Have you had your levels checked by your GP?

Mine were checked and were fine but that is some years back. Read an article yesterday in the paper that was I imaging hey think nearly everyone in this country is Vitamin D deficient and should take a supplement as it is hardly unlikely that they get enough through diet. My multivitamin seems to have it in so I am holding fire at the moment. If you think it might do you good I would have a word with your GP next time you visit.x

I take prescribed Vit D and have regular blood tests, I cant say that it makes a difference to how I feel, the long term lack of vit D has led to severe nerve damage in my case xx

Just had a phone call from the GP to say vitamin D level low so I shall now be on a 3 month course with follow up blood test. I was disappointed to read that those of us on vitamin D supplement don't feel any better for it.....

Hi

I started taking v d many years ago. I kept getting cold flu etc, my doctor did some tests and found out my V D levels were low so I started on them.

Since that year I have had no cold or flu at all so that's my benifits.

Hope you have a great day.

When I first started with fibro, one of the blood tests that did come out abnormal was my vit D level - it was through the floor so I was put on v high doses to get it back up. I honestly thought it was just the Vit D deficiency so was v disappointed that even though my vit D levels are stable I'm still feeling rubbish. Yes, to answer your question though I still take vit D and can tell if I've skipped a few doses. My doc thinks that all Brits should take it - the lack of sunshine (particularly where I live in north east) means we don't top up our levels enough.

What do you feel like when you've missed a few doses? X

Aching bones and very very tired. Although my fibro means I get tiredness anyway as well as the aching muscles etc, I found lack of Vit D exacerbated this. The bone ache was awful - my bones ached like toothache. That was different from the usual joint and muscle ache.

Hi

I have taken a slow release multie vitamin for 2 years but blood test show I am on low end of scale so for 8 weeks prescribed 1 20000 unit capsules of Cholecalciferol per week .

Would get blood tested before if I where you as you can overdose on vitamin D. I believe it can cause kidney damage if you take too much .

Best Wishes

Rose

I was found to have very low level of vitamin d, took prescribed vitamin d from gp for d two years, had a definite effect on my restless legs which used to keep me awake at night. Also the aching pain has gone down a level, so I would definitely get t3sted by doc, made a big difference to me.

Take it since found low on blood test few years ago. Seems to have reduced my pain levels quite a bit. But was also started on b12 injections too a little while after so can't be sure. There does seem to be quite a lot of evidence building up that it can reduce pain levels in FMA.
