Massive flare

Morning everyone

I have had a massive flare this week and it's been so painful, I actually cried with the pain. I'm wondering as I suppose other people do about the food I eat. I had eaten spicy food all week, curries, etc I had overloaded on it and was wondering if anyone else had noticed their condition worse after eating such food. I also changed my milk to semi skimmed and was wondering about that as well. Has anyone else noticed a flare up after this type of food?

I also read an article that a lack of vitamin D can mimick fibro ?

Morning,

I have recently noticed that if I eat curry I go into a flare. I have RA and Fibro.

I have found it is the spicy foods or if I eat anything to sweet or a lot of sweet foods I will flare.

Interesting what you say about vitamin D mimicking Fibro. My consultant sent me for blood tests last week to check my vitamin D and my Thyroid.

I also have read an article on hypothyroidism and Fibro. the symptoms are very similar.

Take care with the flare. I'm in bed with a flare as well, also very painful.

Gentle hugs.

Hi Amanda

Personally I cannot eat spicy food at all, due to my IBS.

A lack of Vitamin D is a very common symptom with Fibro sufferers.

Can I make a suggestion that you start a food diary? This way, you could work out whether there is a correlation between what you are eating and a flare?

Don't forget that all manner of things can start a flare, including stress, non related Fibro illnesses, the weather and so the list goes on.

I do hope that your flare calms down very soon.

Wishing you wellness and peace

Thank you lu

I am under a lot of stress at the moment, my mum has just been diagnosed with dementia and my dad has been given days to live with cancer, as well as working full time in a very stressful job, I work with young offenders. I hate to moan when some have it so much worse but the pain seems to be progressing of late and I can't cope with it x

Hi again

I'm so very sorry to hear what you are currently going through.

Sadly you have your answer right there in my opinion.

I've had Fibro for over 30 years and have belonged to this forum for four years, so have a fair bit of experience to draw upon.

Considering everything that is happening in your life at the moment, in my humble opinion, that is the reason for your flare.

You have THREE huge stress factors. Just one of those would be enough to floor anyone, let alone three.

You moan all you like my friend. We are all here to support and look out for each other.

I do hope that you have a support network around you? Don't forget there is someone around here pretty much around the clock.

If you need to have a vent, or just want someone to talk to, please don't hesitate to put up a post or private message me.

I'm thinking of you and sending you a gentle hug. Lu xx

Hi there,

I,m sorry to hear you have a flare up me too! For me there seems to be no rhym or reason, but a good idea as suggested to make a food diary. I have noticed that stress does effect my level of pain. With regards to the vitamin D my endro who incidentally who does not uphold with my diagnosis of fm....did a ct scan on my head and found my pituitary gland has been damaged and therefore, I don't process vit D and after a massive injection of vit D felt so much better. That was 4 years ago and can you believe will not repeat! However, I take vit D daily and find it really helps.

Hi Amandine, my main home food is curries, i hardly eat them now because they do make my symptoms worse. If i do i cook them myself without certain spices. I watch what i add to them. If from restuarant or elsewhere maybe can get away with eating it once every few weeks but not daily as they use certain spices and additives that irritate and inflame my insides. Hope this helps you. Nowadays i cant even manage cooking anything, how i miss all that.hope you feel better soon. Plenty of boiled or bottles water with a touch of lemon to flush it all out will help alot.x.Babs

Hi Amandine

I am so genuinely sorry to read that you are in a massive flare up and I sincerely hope that you feel better soon. I have never found a correlation between what I eat and Fibro, but I feel that there could be a pattern. After all, I am lactose intolerant and lactose makes me ill, and I am allergic to some foods which give me breathing problems. So it is highly plausible.

I want to genuinely and sincerely wish you all the best of luck.

All my hopes and dreams for you
