Hi everyone. I haven't posted on here for a while but like to drop in and read the posts.
This week has been the 5th anniversary of my diagnosis with Fibro. I was asked if it was something to celebrate and my first thought was 'Hell no!!'. Then somebody pointed out to me that I may be one of the 'lucky' ones. I have been able to carry on working and I have a fairly busy life, which I am aware a lot of the members of this forum haven't been able to. I'm so grateful for that.
The reason for the title of this post is that I think the Tramadol I take has started to cause me problems. For the last few days I have noticed that after I take a 50mg Tramadol my face starts to get numb and tingly. Has anyone else noticed this happening? I hope this isn't a sign of it stopping working for me as I really don't know what else I could try, I have been taking it for about a year, alongside Pregabalin and Amitriptyline. I have also had a flare every day this week and today I feel quite emotional (difficult in an open plan office!!).
Thanks for reading

I think you should see your GP as any new symptoms need to be checked out, as you have been on these meds for a while they may need adjusting. We are not medically trained and can only advise from our own experience. I hope you get some help soon xx
It is really very important to get any new symptoms checked out by your GP.
If your face is feeling numb and tingly I would definitely urge you to see your GP as this could be the signs of something quite serious.
It is very tempting to say oh it's just another Fibro thing.
I seem to have been saying all week that so many of us are going through flares and intensified pain and fatigue right now.
Please do get these symptoms checked out. It may not be the Tramadol at all.
Don't forget to let us know how you get on
Wishing you less pain and more peace

That is quite a combination of meds to take really, all of these work by affecting brain activity, I really could not cope with anti epileptic drugs ANd an anti depressant together, is your fibro so bad that conventional analgesia like tramadol with paracetamol couldn,t help? Considering you are managing to work on is amazing and just maybe with guidance from your g.p you could ween down and then off the pregab and gabapent, don't do it alone you will get awful withdrawal if you do. good luck
Yes I agree Lu its all trial and error to get a balance, you,ve always had a strong constitution in the year I,ve been reading from your messages and help, fibro most deffinately hits many of us in different ways and responds in different ways to what meds we are tried on. I found myself totally unable to cope with many things I tried.
Thank you for your help. I can't get a doctor's appointment until 13th December. I called in to see a chemist and it was suggested that I don't take any Tramadol for a day or two if I can cope with the pain. If the numbness and tingling carries on I need to get an appointment asap.
I take tramadol 5omg and have not had the symptoms you are getting. It just makes my brain deader than it normally is and makes me sleep. Does your gp surgery do emergency appointments? Numbness, tingling of the face fingers and toes is listed as a side effect but you can't be too careful. Please get it checked out. Gentle hugs Joolz.x
I really am so genuinely sorry to read this and as the others say it would be best to get it checked out by your GP just to have other medical conditions ruled out of the equation. I want to sincerely wish you all the best of luck, and please take care of yourself.
