hi all
Does anyone else find that symptoms seem to flare up after a meal and also an alcoholic drink?
Hi, my tolerance for alcohol has got less and less over the last couple of years and now just a sip can make me feel groggy. Certain foods can make me feel bloated, thirsty, tired and definitely affect my sleep. For me it is the processed foods - biscuits, chocolate, crisps, cake. I have switched to wholewheat pasta, rice and notice a difference when I don’t have them.
Alcohol certainly stops my meds working. My days of playing rugby and going out with the boys on a Friday night are long gone, sine I married 25 years ago, but even a social drink with dinner has an effect so I had to stop completely. A couple of family weddings two years ago proved the point!
Drinking alcohol left me in agony for two weeks. It definitely has an effect on my joints.I stopped drinking 6 months ago and feel much better for it
Hi, yes I can't tolerate alcohol any more, used to love a glass of red wine but get worse pain and feel drunk even after a small glass now. Also had ibs until I cut out dairy, but I try have u processed foods all the time now as I do get flare ups if ive had any type of processed food or too much wheat based food. Its trial and error what works best for you x
Hello, not sure why as soon as I eat a main meal I tend too go in a lull and what too shut my eyes 🤣occasionally I have an odd drink but with medication it is limited , a lot of people here do work with their daily diet and I’m reading some good results , have you had any recents checks later and mentioned this too your doctor , get a piece of mind and rule out anything else.
Hi Myholly... I found alcohol certainly made my symptoms worse the next day. I also find some foods make it worse too... processed foods and all those lovely tasting treats ( you know the ones- the biscuits, cakes etc.) I've stopped the alcohol... for 2 reasons, 1... it was getting a 'habit' ! 2 an expensive one which when I totted up the amount I was spending it was getting ridiculous, besides which, I felt awful the following day.
Food wise, I'm trying to limit those 'nice' snacks and am eating more fruit instead. I keep a food diary every day so I can check back and see if there's a pattern. I have felt better re: pain but still take painkillers when I really need them. Do wonder though perhaps I should reduce the amount of tomato / aubergine based meals as I noticed especially in the summer my joints were a bit painful..... so I've started to eat more fish, poultry and grains. I'm not a lover of pasta so only have it occasionally, but when I do it's wholemeal/ spelt. Bread is either rye or wholemeal with grains.
All you can do is try different things and see how they affect you.. Take care x
yes I have pain in renal area , checked thoroughly. Painful bladder, head aches, bloated , fatigued after eating processed food, alcohol is a no. No caffeine. No fun!!!!
Be aware, a lot of the symptoms mentioned here can be Diabetes related. You should get your sugars tested by the doctor
