Yes they are good for removing toxins from the body soak in a warm bath and wrap up I a towel and relax for 20mins I learned about that at beauty college

Any idea what sort of quantity you are supposed to put in? I find they don't do anything but it could be because I don't put enough in the bath.

Thanks

Margaret.

I would put at least for table spoons in its like when you putbin the old bath cubes or crystals and have the water really nice and warm if you have low blood pressure I would look further into contraindications its like any herbal remedy it dose not suit all

That's probably why then. I normally put around a healthy two tablespoons in.

Thanks.

I use a beaker full and it's said that at least 20' soak, the longer the better as far as I'm concerned :-)

They are also a water softener :-)

Yes, they are great for symptomatic relief of aches and pains and they help my sleep. I ended up buying high quality magnesium salts online in bulk as these were a good deal despite the initial outlay.

I have heard it as well, unfortunately unable to use a bath but a friend swore by it.

It will work just as well in a foot bath

How does it work in a foot spa

U put the salts in warm water in a container big enough for ur feet: (I have a washing up bowl for this)

Salts are absorbed through your skin

Thank you I just got to find some now is it a chemist r health shop you get em xxxxxx

It's sold in chemist, holland and barratt, I used to buy in bulk on eBay bt have found some in a shop called savers at a good price πŸ‘

I use them too. Must say I was sceptical when I first heard but honestly say they do help. Magnesium in them soaks through the skin and combining with my mg and zinc supplement helps with pain. I know that too as stopped all meds and supplements recently In my detox and chest pain returned. Back on them again.. Baths when I can get into them but supplements and spray too. I buy mg spray but just read on another forum you can make up your own for less money .. Going to look into that one too JaxπŸ’•

The recipes I've seen for Magnesium sprays/oils use Magnesium Chloride.

Thank you Telynores - will look into it Jax πŸ’•

Hi could I just remind people suffering with High BP using epsom salts would not be a good

idea. I have high BP and on medication so need to watch my salt intake. But for everyone else I have heard many people over the years say it helps them. This treatment as been around for many moons so it seems like it as been well tried and tested. Good luck I hope it helps you xx

Magnesium taken as a food supplement should be carefully monitored in people with low blood pressure!!!!

Telynores profile image
Telynoresβ€’ in reply toDizzytwo

Epsom salts are not actually a salt. It is magnesium sulphate.

Telynores profile image
Telynores

I buy it in 25kg sacks and add my own oils :-)

Most sites say two cup fulls, wonder what size cup they use :-) That's why I use a beaker :-) Just imagine, our skin could be so well saturated that our wrinkles would fill in :-D

A member recently mentioned oats and such, I've never gotten around to using oats in the bath but will - the oats go in a muslin or some such bag :-)

β€’ in reply toTelynores

You have some good tips there I think a cup is 8oz

Telynores profile image
Telynoresβ€’ in reply to

In that case we need 1lb Of Magnesium Sulphate in our bath, 49*kg, I'll have to have fewer baths :-P

I'm a wealth of useless info :-)

Definitely try to be as natural as possible :-O mud baths anyone?

Sorebones profile image

We need to head to Boryeong in South Korea if we want to do a real mud bath!! Look up Boryeong Mud Festival and you'll see what I mean. I have some of the Boryeong Mud companys products. Yet to try them lol 🐸

All those people though. NZ, some private place, I'm a hermit :-)

I use clay to wash my hair, if I use anything at all, in fact if I even get it wet :-P

You should use the mud :-)

Eurgh! A porridge bath....... So long as it doesn't set...... The smell must be terrible as well....... Rather do the magnesium sulphate with nice oils 😜. The mental image of someone in a bath of porridge gave me a good giggle though 🐸

Telynores profile image
Telynoresβ€’ in reply toSorebones

The bag of oats hang under the hot tap, it's milky ........ without the milk if you see what I mean :-) Unless you bathe like a lobster it won't set :-P

I've also wondered what size bathtub? I use a cup full but my bathtub is not real big.

Perhaps we'll have to start measuring our bath water too :-P With the Magnesium I guess I feel that you can't use too much, especially when the sack if full :-D People always comment on how soft my skin is :-)

Me too.. But no jokes about resembling a hippo!! 🌴

Oops yep it is low blood pressure not High sorry I have my fog head on lol

Be mindful if like myself you have a heart condition ie atrial fibullation as the salts dilate the blood vessels and increase the circulation not good for blood pressure either. To be on the safe side seek your GP'S advise.

Unfortunately, I no longer have a bath as this bathroom was so small it was a choice between a bath or a shower as as OH would only shower and hated baths and I was having difficulty getting in and out of one had to have a shower. I used to put two good handfuls in and soaked for at least half an hour with just a candle for lighting and my MP3 player playing soft relaxing music it used to be the only thing that took my mind off the pain when I was having a bad flare.

If you are the type of person who goes light headed easily be a bit careful as it can have that effect on some people. Certainly worth a try.x

I'm guessing like me you ll be on the foot soak from what I've just read it's absorbed through the skin so we should be ok xxxxxxx

Yes unfortunately not the same as a good soak in the old tub but better than nothing.x

I use two handfuls for a bath, and usually have the bath last thing at night. Then it helps you sleep.

Epsom and lavender bath.

Any essential oil really, relax! I put in a few handfuls of the stuff.

I use it as a body scrub while sat on my bath seat with the plug in the bath as it's easier for me!

Anything holistic and natural I love!
