Can't take much more

Really fed up been up all night started vomiting with fresh blood in it again at 2am. My own dr told me if sick at anytime with any signs of blood she wants me to get checked at hospital. Get an appointment to see Dr at oncall at a&e in Scarborough at 1120 eventually seen at 1215 which was totally useless tells me because already under going investigations not much he can do and can't access my notes to check my previous blood tests, then tells me just to go home and speak with my own GP in morning all he did was check my pulse and temp, felt stomach. Asked me what I wanted him to do are we having a laugh, he is the dr surely i need to be having investigations where the blood is coming from, just want sorted as obviously something going on that is not right. Back home sickness worse can't stand up lie down, ever trying to take anti sickness tablet my Dr gave me coming back up feel like something in my throat just so fed up now can't drive to York as everytime I move having either coughing fit or vomiting and no way am I going back to Scarborough. Really frustrated and frightened as appears health professionals don't give a damn

Oh poor you WEEme, that isn't nice for you. my first reaction was to ask if you've been coughing a lot as that can produce fresh blood when you are being sick, as can the actual process of being repeatedly sick itself. It must b very frightening for you and I'm sure your GP should be able to give you something to stop the vomiting. Sometimes one can get the feeling of there being a "blockage" in the throat - I know as I've had exactly this, and it's actually to do with being over stressed.

I'm sending lots of positive healing vibes your way in the hope that the coughing and sickness stop very very soon !!

Hi WEEme

I'm sorry to hear you've been so poorly. Sadly it seems to be more and more the norm for doctors to ask us what we'd like them to do! I want to scream at them I didn't train for 7 years to be a doctor, you tell me.

I'm surprised the emergency doctor didn't give you an injection to stop you being sick. When I had severe Gatroenterisis (spelling ?) the injection was just marvellous. My GP asked me why I'd left it so long to contact the surgery. I'd been calling them for 3 days and kept being told I couldn't have a home visit as I could get to the surgery myself! At the time I couldn't even keep a sip of water down.

I know there is a sickness bug doing the rounds, but from what you've said it sounds like it's an ongoing problem for you.

It's just a thought, but how about calling 111 again, telling them you need to see an out of hours GP and request an injection to stop you being sick. Unfortunately I've forgotten what the name of the injection is.

It's just a thought and only my opinion, but I can't think of anything else to suggest other than to contact your GP in the morning which obviously you're going to do anyway.

I really do hope you don't have another bad night.

Gentle hugs

Lu xx

Thanks for ur replies I got cylizine for the vomiting last week from my GP, they have been brilliant and checking me on a daily basis all last week till Friday just now that we have a bank hol surgery closed. I have been diagnosed as having gastritis and still under investigation as a lot of my bloods are coming back abnormal, showing I have some form of infection going on in my body. I have already also been told I may have some form of inflammatory bowel disease such as crohns or colitis but until other results back my gp hands are tied. She explained the importance of getting any vomiting with blood checked out due to my recent results. I thought the full issue of this data sharing within the nhs the hospital should be able to view my bloods especially when carried out at that hospital. Just frustrated now, I have got a slight cough but not enough to rapture any blood vessels. I will be ok, if I do get any worse I will go through 111 again. I been avoiding going into hospital but feel this may be the only way forward now. Just frustrated how long things have been going on with my health xx

Thanks for letting us know how you're doing. It does seem like your GP is on the case which is good to hear.

I was once told by a paramedic that sometimes the only way to get something sorted is by going into hospital, but I understand your reluctance to go.

I do hope that you don't have Chrons or Colitis and it's just a severe infection.

Take it easy for the rest of the evening. I do hope you at least get some rest tonight.

Please let us know how you get on at the doctors tomorrow.

Take it easy and be kind to yourself xx

Thanks Ken, still being sick(31 times since 4pm) spoke with a doctor who came out to house, Bp/pulse not too bad just the vomiting with some blood. Said can admit me to Scarborough, but because ongoing condition not much they can do. Said better to ride it out till can get own GP first thing and get them to admit me into York under consultant I am under to get further tests because it has got worse. Phoned in sick to work until I get sorted properly this time. Just horrible pains everywhere body just getting exhausted now. Really need some sleep, but doze off then within 10 minutes running to bathroom again. X

Hi weeme, how horrible for you. I just wanted to say that when pregnant i used to be constantly sick for months and lost weight and i used to vomit fresh blood, i think it was from straining and tearing in the throat. I know it can be very scary. You must be feeling so weak by now, do hope you get help soon
