Can't help

Saw g.p. Today as I have been in a lot of discomfort severely for the last six days. All my top half of my body feels sore/sunburn feeling even on my face, forehead and eyelids. I am having trouble sitting down as the sciatic nerves are giving me jip down my thighs and backside. Now I have pain in my ribs area under my breast, it's a bruised feeling. All g.p. Said was that he could increase gabapentin. They haven't helped so far but hey ho, yeah up them. Who knows, may work eventually with keep increasing it. So fed up and different pain appears in different places which I know it does with fibro. I had a lip biopsy testing for sjogrens which came back inconclusive but my immfamation rate is 72 and fibro gas nothing to do with immflamation. Sick of all this medication which seems to do nothing. Chronic fatigue, muscle aches, heaviness in limbs meaning struggling to do anything like we all are. Can't even drive much due to chronic fatigue. D.w.p. Expect me to hold a job down, what a joke. Can't function and like a zombie everyday.

He said he couldn't give me anything, only up the gabapentin from 500mg 3x a day to 600mg 3x a day. I have discomfort at the top part of my legs which I have had for a couple of weeks. it's uncomfortable sitting on certain chairs. don't know if it's my sciatic nerve as discomfort is on my thigh up to bottom of my bum. something different every day. xx

hi Mandy

i was sent by rhuematologist to see a respiritory consultant. He sent me to a sleep clinic where it was noted my o2 levels dipped when sleeping. i now have a C.P.A.P. machine i wear at night and the difference is unbelievable. I very rarely fall asleep during the day now. I was diagnosed with fybro last year and been of work since January as im a driver with the council. Hoping to get back soon though. Painwise im on naproxen and pregabalin duloxetine and tramadol. xxx

pain killers didn't work for me, even tramadol so just put up with pain, headaches I just take paracetamol which take edge off. I haven't worked for over 3 years due to my mental health. hadn't been diagnosed with fibro then which has made my mental health/more depressive episodes especially having to fight for benefits but I know I can't give up on what I am entitled to. can't function most of the time. x

Hi mandy. I havent stopped to read other replies but wanted to tell you what happened to me. Some of your symptoms matched mine and is prob not going to be considered by gps or consultants. Diagnosed with fibro approx 4 yrs, then cfs last sept after 21 months struggle. Had the fatigue, heaviness of limbs, glands ached etc but also pain under ribs, somewhat to right side and bottom of sternum. Like a bruised tenderness feeling coming and going but also an acute severe pain that felt like tightening across my chest at times with pain spreading up to shoulder when worst, for 1-4 hrs at time. Hence several times had to have ecg done but always after pain gone and nothing found. Gp decided was anxiety and nothing done. Kept trying to push self to prove dr wrong and it would make my body crash and be fit for nothing for days. Was worst before menstruation and all fibro pain would flare up. When diagnosed with cfs the consultant found inflammation marker raised but as at time i could not think of anything specifically hurting (no chest pain then and fibro pain kept in check with amitriptyline) he decided not to do anything about it, and liver function better than normal . Then in feb i was in hosp with severe gallbladder inflammation. I had known i had lots gallstones but eating fatty foods didnt affect so never thought my problems related to that and my gp said nothing would be done because no problems after eating. End of June i had my gallbladder taken out and it was tested. Evidence of chronic inflammation was found. Since the op.my c.f.s.has disappeared within few days and i am like my old self: little fatigue, busy doing, no heavyiness/achiness, few headaches, and chest pain much less (although not completely vanished but have read up a few explanations for that) . Chronic inflammation gives that unwell feeling like cfs but only intermittent pain in gallbladder area. It seems that was my problem. An ultrasound when fasting would reveal if problems of gallstones or severe inflammation so not difficult to investigate. Gallbladder problems dont answer all your symptoms but as you probably know: when unwell all fibro pain flares up. Also if i am right in guessing your age is around my generation due to mandy being a popular name then, just like karen, galbladder problems are most common in females that age, jyst like fibro. Maybe something you should at least get ruled out with gp. If she querries whether you get bilary colic after eating certain foods- i never!

I have irritable bowel syndrome and as soon as I eat, my stomach bloated more and feels more hard. I had a hysterectomy due to heavy painful periods and was told I had an ovarian cyst. my ovaries were left in so as to go through the change normally which I am not on the change. also as soon as I have eaten anything, I get so much gas but then I get has from just sucking a sweet lol. always been gassy and very smelly at times leaving people I am with embarrassed as I have to let go anywhere or I get stomach ache. haven't got gallstones or gallbladder problems to my knowledge. xx

Try a few things to treat the symptoms. When all else fails divide and conquer!

Cut out all gluten. Eat the plainest diet possible for a few weeks. Chicken and white fish, steamed veg, brown rice. Choose another couple of very bland meals. Drink water. Take a probiotic daily. Do this for 3-4 weeks and I’m sure you’ll see a difference in your bloating.

Look online at ‘Dr Myland fibromyalgia ‘ There are 4 supplements given- I’ve taken these for about 6-7 weeks now plus 2 x hemp seed capsules per day. Definitely improved the fatigue and less pain. I now have more good days in a week than bad.

Worth a try.

I think I am going to give g.p. Surgery a bit of a break as I feel I am being treated like a hypochondriac but maybe that's my paranoia kicking in. Who knows. I am going to ring rheumatology nurse on Monday which I was told I could do if I needed to talk about anything. I am losing the will to live with all this benefit fighting but I know I have to do it. No way can I work with this condition along with my mental health and still Rheumy trying to find out if I have sjogrens disease as my imflammatory rate is high at 72. X
