Hi

I am flying to canary islands tomorrow early hours has anyone any tips for the journey

Never flew when in so much pain booked before I felt so bad dont even want to go but dont want to let hubby down as he has been working so hard.

Pain mostly in head and neck muscle stiffening when sitting for long periods or walking to long distances

intermittant nausea. I am not good with any meds I have tried so far but have been given citramapel I can only mange half of 10mg tablet at moment as the full one made me terribly sick. Hoping the heat may help on holiday hubby says we wont bother going if you feel so bad I am at my wits end with this .

I have been referred to homepathy clinic on 29th october maybe that will be useful .

hope everyone is well

Kathy xxx

Pain and exhaustion all over. I've been off work for nearly 4 years now and only 35 :-/ Floating in the warm sea was amazing though.

Hi there, I will be flying out to Kos in a weeks' time and I have pre-brooked a seat near one of the exits so that I have room to stand up and move about if I need to, because like you I stiffen up easily. I will be taking rescue remedy before I go, just to calm my nerves a bit, but I have medications which I tolerate which also will be helpful.

I hope very much that you manage to find a way of overcoming your worries and that you have a fabulous holiday. Like you, I'm hoping that the warmth and the sun make things better if only for a short time.

Can I just ask if your doctor is aware of the homeopathy you are going to have ? I think it is important that doctors are awAre of any alternative therapy you are taking just so they have overall knowledge of what you are taking as I have been told that some homeopathic drugs impact on conventional ones.

Wishing you the very best :-)

Hi Fibrofoggiest

My doctor referred me to the clinic as I am not good with conventional meds.

I have received the pack were they give you an hour and half consultation with blood tests and examination they can then refer you to different programmes they have pending what they thinks suits as far as I know.

I have propanalol which is a beta blocker which mayhelp with journey can I ask what other symptoms that you are most bothered by , I have a continous headache that never goes away I think it is coming from the stiffening in my shoulders and back it is more like pressure in my head all the time

I genuinely hope that you have a wonderful time with your husband. The only thing I can think of is to relax and let everything take care of itself. The more relaxed you are the less chance you will have of a flare up.

All my hopes and dreams for you and have a lovely time.

Sounds like you had some fun so that is all that matters. Sorry that you did suffer some anxiety though. Now is the test of whether you have overdone it or not? I will keep my fingers crossed for you.

Take care

Please Go & enjoy the heat & the 'rest' & relaxation. Its should be worth your flight. I'm taking mum to the lakes. Along with a hot water bottle. Heat pad wheat teddy & jumpers. Lolx would really prefer a flight to endure. Xx

Please go on holiday. I can only speak from experience that sun and sea REALLY helped me last month. Painkillers and an inflatable neck pillow and a good book got me there. The journey home was easier except I didn't want to come home as I felt so much better when I was in the heat. Have a wonderful time and I hope the heat helps. My hubby said he got his wife back when we were away!!

Hi,

Airlines offer a disability service... have you taken them up on this? If not phone them today or it may be too late.

Their service may be a great help to you. Some offer free pre booked seats (usually near front to alleviate unnecessary walking).

Also disability check in service desk, with seats and faster, and if required will take you down from departures to plane in a chair or buggy car. Usually offer similar the other end.

Not sure if some airlines request proof of disability, ie benefit disability certificate..Dr's not?

Check it out, hopefully will help you get to your hols without worsening your pain or mobility.

Hopefully it's a total chill out hols, with all nearby and lots of vitamin d from the sunshine.

Xx

Hi Kathy like you not good with most medication so I have had to learn to manage without. Because I get back pain I use those heated pads which you can buy in most pharmacies, I can't recall the name at the moment, but they get warm when they are in contact with the skin, and they stay warm for up to 12 hours. They make a big difference with pain and stiffness. You can get packs for shoulders as well by the same company, in a red box, in most pharmacies, so see if you can get some today before you travel. There is no problem with security, if they do pick them up on the security machines they don't worry about it, but what I ususally do is carry them in my hand baggage and then put them on in the departure lounge. Have a great holiday! x

Thanks god for our blokes eh!

Do remember airport disability service for another time... think they mostly like notification couple of days before. Avoid queuing to check in, long walks to plane etc.... huge help for me.
