Does anyone else have problems with sodium levels I have been having blood tests for months but they cant seem to find a problem. Was wondering if it is fibro related or something else entirely

Hugs for everyone

I haven't had this personally but a close friend has. She was having cramps all the time and was also on the cusp of having thyroid problems sometimes overactive and sometimes underactive. She also suffers from coeliac disease. She was actually told to have more salt in her diet and the cramps have now gone.

I have an underactive thyroid and never had a problem with salt levels, and have never tried, don't like too much salt. I dont think having more salt would have any effect on an underactive thyroid gland.

Hi honey25

I hope that you are well today? I do not personally have a problem with sodium levels, but I can imagine that having this would create all kinds of health problems, especially fatigue? I watched a documentary quite a few months ago whereby they said that wholemeal bread these days was too high in salt. Maybe it would be worth discussing with your GP about eating more wholemeal bread? It is a simple solution if it works?

Take care

Hi Honey

I also have this and also having blood tests every two weeks as it is very low. Gp and rheumatologist have said it is prob caused by duloxetine (for fibro) and the carbamazepine (for epilepsy). I have tried more salt but no better either. Gp also asked if I was drinking lots of water, as this can cause it too. (I do drink a lot due to dry mouth, but not too much).

I am sorry I don't have any reason etc but I hope it helps to know you're not alone.

Hope it gets better soon & gentle hugs

honey25, have you asked for the results and asked for them to be explained to you?. If the results are coming back and not giving any decesive results, then I would not go for anymore until I was refered to a specialist and then have a more indepth investigation done. keep having the same tests is not the best way to get any results that give a diagnosis, just wastes your blood and time.ttfn
