been awarded low care dla what else can i get?

after 2 and half years, of filling in dla forms and being refused dla and at the appeal, I have refilled the forms in and had letter today sayin i have been awarded low care. could i claim for the higher and what else can I get?

Best people to ask is the Citizens advise or what ever they are called now or call the local council and ask what you may be entitled to.

IT depends on your symptoms and your home life. i get esa and i am in the support group. I used to get low rate care and high rate mobility i am still awaiting my appeal decision after being turned down this time, after 3 yrs of getting the damn benefit!!!! lol. CAB are great but i usually go to welfare rights. Good luck!

Lash....the same has just happened to me. I am having a meeting with CAB on Monday the 10th will let you know what they advise.. I have been told that if you appeal one part the whole of it gets looked at again and you may loose what you have been awarded. I'm of the mind never had the money before so I think I am prepard to fight if I have to. Good luck

There is no rhyme or reason to their decisions and we are mostly testimony to the fact they are not fair. Go get local help, cab or disability rights etc. I went to tribunal and am still waiting 3 months after for the judge to let me have the reasons for their refusal as got low level care and 0 mobility but i nee a walking frame and cant often go out! I have heard so many folk who have to reapply. As PIPS will come in early next year that may be a good time to reapply. Dont let them frighten you off. Before i had need to apply I helped a fybro mate apply as he had two refusals. He was getting nothing. I appealed for him, saying we would go to tribunal if necessary. He now gets high mobility and medium care. Its a farce as I know he needs it, but I am far worse than him most days and i got sweet F.A in comparrison. I am going to get solicitor when they bother to send me tribunal notes. They have had their 3 month grace to supply them and I am tired of waiting!

Good luck, reapply, get all the help you can but well done for getting anything in this climate!
