I was replying to all your kind comments but I think I did it wrong It looks like I have posted to my own predicament so all of those who replied or anyone else please look and see what I am trying to say anyway I typed away as u do and the next thing it disappeared but now I realise its not a gremlin its me!!!!

what I was about to write is has anyone managed to get off night shift because of medication? my GP has said that she will write me a letter of support if I need one. I am back to work on Tuesday so if anyone knows of any rights that I may help in this situation.

one last thing I got out of bed this morning and I fell I have bruised my nose my teeth cut into my lip and my left breast is bruised I have fallen a few times in the last couple of years, has anyone else had the same?

hope you are all managing to find support if I can be of any help then please ask.

when I just read that through I am not sure if you go back to my post and to the responses you will see the rest of this, I don't think I am explaining myself properly so I am going to attach a label FIBRO FOG/

Goodnight to you all.

hi Bracken, how are you after your falls? it might be wise to let your gp know about them - mine asks me if I've fallen.

I can't advise on the work situation, other than say there are disability guidelines that can help you. I'm sure someone will be on tomorrow to talk about them.

regards,

sandra ;)

Hi Sandra I am feeling sore now but hopefully after my long soak in the bath I have eased some of the pain. I have fallen a few times I live in a flat and middle of the year I slipped going down the stairs and cracked my head at the back I knew I was lucky not to cause any serious injury. last new year I fell twice in exactly the same place I landed on my right side my breast got it again lucky no serious damage.

I will mention next time I am at the doctors.

bedtime now and a long lie as I am off tomorrow goodnight x

Hi Bracken1

I sincerely hope that you are feeling as well as you possibly can be today? I am so sorry to read that you have had a fall, and I genuinely hope that you have not hurt yourself too much? I am sending you lots of positive thoughts, and I really hope that you recover soon.

When sending a reply, always click on the little yellow 'Reply' button in the bottom left hand corner of the post, and when you are finished click on the 'Submit my reply' button. I presume this is what you meant? If not, just place another open post again, and I will help you sort it out.

All my hopes and dreams for you

Morning Braken,

I hope you have woken and the bruises do not hurt too much! Some of us go through spates of falling into things I believe it is part of Fibro affecting our balance. .

Your question is can you get relieved of night duty because of medication? What medication are you on and does it make you feel unable to do your job?

As your GP has agreed to write a letter I would suggest you talk to the management explain your situation and talk about Fibro. It would be perfectly acceptable to ask to be transferred to day time if that is what you really want.

Good Luck, Take care please let us know how you get on.

Hi Gins I am quite sore today I have a swelling over my nose and bruised my left boob!!! I take amitriptyline at night I along with other meds it has a sedative in it I will meet up with my line manager tomorrow and explain the situation.

I was wondering if falls are part of fibro I have fallen a lot in the last two years.

I hope that you are doing ok I will try to get on here a couple of times a week.

you take care

Hi bracken

7years ago a locum at my surgery said to me 'I know I've only seen you a couple of times but you appear to have a history of falling over. I'd like to find out why?' I'd had 3 or 4 nasty ones that year actually the bruises were horrific and hung around for well up to 6 to 8 weeks. 2 months later I was being assessed for MS.

He was right though, when I thought about it at least twice a year for about 15 years to be 'almost correct' I say almost because I can't remember :o I had quite nasty falls. so no you're not alone in that :)

I knocked into the arm of the rocking chair 2 weeks ago and have a huge bruise the size of a bar of soap on the left side of the left leg above the knee. It's a corker!! It was also very painful too for the first week.

I think talking to your GP about it is essential to your care and treatment as there are a number of reasons why you could be falling over for instance I have no balance and co-ordination added to the occasional bout of vertigo.

With respect to getting a sick note for the medication you're on for getting off nightshift I can't comment as I don't know what medication you take or what your company's disability guidelines are.

I can say that I personally know some medications advise you not to operate machinery or drive if you feel 'dizzy' or 'out of it' and that would apply 24/7 and affects every aspect of daily life not just work.

Best thing to do is to talk to your GP about it when you discuss that letter of support.

Hi Zebs thank you for your reply, my GP took bloods I have lost count of when November or December she called me back for more blood tests she explained that she wanted to check out ms was one of the she was checking for I went to the hospital it was a consultant for arthritis etc through talking to me and checking my joints he confirmed fibro, the thing that concerned my GP he said was nothing to worry about he reckons it was to do with levothyroxine.

i take 125mg amitriptyline at night and other meds, I am having a meeting with my line manager tomorrow I will leave a message to let you know how I get on.

now back to the falls I often have bruises and cant remember what I had done, over the last two years I Have

fallen a lot, twice this year already. Today I am aching everywhere I have a swelling on my nose I have bruises on my left breast and I have sore knees on top of the pain I was already in, I was off today I was glad about that. I am back at work tomorrow but not until 4pm so I am needing a long lie and an early night.

I hope that you are recovering yourself I will let you know how I get on x
