My fibromyalgia and m.e and bulging disc ibs, migraine asthma and depression and my raynairds too so sick of not sleeping at night i go to bed on a regular bedtime but cannot drop off don't know what else to try. I have tried meditation, warm shower milky drink to no avail not sleeping. I am wondering whether to go back to g.p and see if he will put my antidpressant dose up at present i am on 40mg's of fluoxetine not sure if it is helping only been on higher dose 6 weeks. Need to also know how i go about reclaiming dla or some other benefit i am due to go see a consultant about my spine waiting on having an operation possibly wonder can the consultant back me with the works and pensions to help get my dla back as my fybromyalgia and m.e and everything else is alot worse.

Had enough of not getting no sleep.
Fluoxetine does not agree with many people .. Myself included I had to try 4 antidepressants before I found the one that works for me .. I take that at night with a low dose muscle relaxant and I now get sleep after 21 years.... I am not suggesting it will take that long for you .. But if you are getting no benefit from the med you are on I would suggest going back to your GP and asking to try another ... There are loads of meds to try for sleep and pain relief at night
Good luck

Thanks for the good advice i have now booked in to see my G.P week today i will let you know how i get on. I am now having a major flare up of my fybromyalgia and m.e so will need to discuss this with my doctor. Hoping you are not having a to bad day today sending gentle hugs your way . Salanna x.
I think up dating your meds is good but also old fashion gentle bath/shower warm drink relaxing music and into bed. Get comfy dream about your halcyon days sweet dreams

HI SALANNA I KNOW IT SOUNDS STRANGE BUT I HAVE FIBRO AND OTHER HEALTH PROBLEMS I EAT A LETTUCE LEAF BEFORE BED TIME.I GET A BIT MORE SLEEP THAT WAY JUST TRY IT HOPE THAT HELPS PINK RIBBONS
I grow catmint for the moggies, and a few leaves of that (either eaten or steeped in boiling water as an infusion) is well-known to be a sleep aid. It does work for me, but I would warn that the dreams can be somewhat technicolour!
I'm on amitriptyline, which may be a better option than fluoxetine, but that would be a topic best tackled with your GP - as VG said, antidepressants all work differently for different people, so it may take some time to find a balance.
Good luck! xx
I was originally on amitriptyline for a long time i had to come off them they did'nt work for me i was more depressed and felt suicidal on them and fybromyalgia and m.e was made 100 times worse. I have a appointment next thursday to discuss my medication wish me look and while i am there i am going to get my g.p to write a medical statement about my conditions so i can apply for dla or some other benefit again as my fybromyalgia m.e etc are getting worse having a major flare up at the moment. so wish me luck going to contact works and pensions see what happens.
