Hiya, I'm new on here too and find the blogs and questions really insightful to my own symptoms.

I am 29 and feel much older than that, especially when in a flare up as I am now. It's so horrible to be in so much pain and feel so tired. I think that the fatigue is worsened by my pain, but even on good days with pain levels I am constantly tired, so I think, well for me anyway, the exhaustion is a symptom in itself but made worse when pain levels are worse.

I don't have children yet, I have always wanted them but with no partner at the moment my chances are looking less likely, especially with suffering from FM, people don't seem to want to know. I do spend time with my nieces and nephews when I can though who are 10, 8, 6 and 4. It is so tiring though, the energy they have I really struggle to keep up and they don't really understand that Auntie Laura can't play as long as mummy and daddy, it is so hard and heartbreaking sometimes so I can kind of understand how you feel, although it must be so much worse when it's your own child.

In regards to your title, I do get extreme lower back pain as well as really bad hands and arms, I am not prescribed morphine but co-codamol for the pain and it barely touches the side, no pain levels are reduced at all with pain killers, it just helps take the edge off a little bit but rather than stopping any pain it just makes me not care as much and feel drowsy.

Hope this helps you a bit. take care of yourself and try not to beat yourself up too much, it is not your fault you have FM. xx

Well I am 53 and like you feel like I am 93 lol. I suffer terrible from low back pain and also pain in many other places. I also have two collapsed hips from Osteoarthritis that I have been battling with my weight that I gained after becoming disabled with the fibro and also the hip arthritis on top of it. I have lost 7 stone in total from my worst weight that I got up to after diagnosis and that has not made any difference at all to the pain I get in my back which is at its worst when I stand up. I was in a wheelchair all the time for 18 months but since losing the last 5 stone I have recently managed to walk around indoors (well shuffle supported by my arms really) whilst pushing a wheeled walker or using crutches. I cannot stand for any length of time before the back pain becomes excrutiating and I cannot bear to stand a second longer as I am beginning to collapse down but until my hips are replaced I won't be able to tell whether it is pain that is referred from the hips or whether there is something more serious going on in the back or if it is just good old fibro pain. I take 2 x100mgs of Zomorph per day 12 hours apart and if I am getting breakthrough pain I take up to 60mgs of Sevredol which is another morphine tablet as I had to stop taking the Oramorph when the amount I needed was detrimental to my diabetes due to the sugariness of the liquid. I hope you get to grips with the pain and find some ways to ease it up. I did used to wear support belts that were meant for sportspeople that where quite good but then I found that it was rubbing on my skin on my tummy and causing me a problem there but they did at least support my back a bit. I have been advised by the physiotherapist that I saw when I was an inpatient at one stage at the Rheumatological hospital that Pilates is an excellent thing for helping as it strengthens your core strength through your back bone and helps to give you better posture and as soon as I am able to walk I am off to a regular pilates session to help me for certain. xx

Hia,i'm new to all this so bare with me.I'm nearly 40 and have suffered with fm since i was in my mid 20's!! It was said that it was contributory after a road accident i had 2yrs previous to diagnosis.I also suffer with endometriosis and was diagnosed with addison's disease in 2003,and i'm now being told that all this is interlinked!! I feel 98 most days due to the chronic fatigue, aches and pains throughout my body.I have 2 children age 6 and 4,who are very busy and active.I feel useless with them most days as they have to help me dress so i can get them to school!! It breaks my heart that they go to their dad to play with them as 'mum' can't do that or bend down there etc,and now they automatically turn to him.I beat myself up daily about this as it kills me that i was once so sporty and active and now can't do the simplest of things.I have tried so many different meds over the yrs, diclofenac, voltarol sr,naproxen,co codamol, diazepam etc.I have been taking amitryptiline but have cut the tablet out for the last 2wks and i must admit the muscle spasms are not as bad as they have been!! Maybe it's the fact that i'm on holiday from my daily job,we'll see when i resume normal duties!! I also have a supply of morphine patches to hand for when i suffer my worst leg spasms.Don't ever feel alone with regards to your children,i have sat mine down and explained to them that i get more off days than good, but i will try my best to do as much as i can with them. It's all about finding a happy medium and equal balance to daily tasks.I've come to learn since the kids arrived that they come 1st,sod the housework etc.I have totally changed my priorities, and my true friends have been absolutely amazing and understanding, some, unfortunately havn't been so sincere about my illnesses,so i don't bother.I just do the best i can, when i can.The hardest thing for me has been accepting that i'll never be the girl i used to be,and won't be able to do half the things i'd love to do.Big hugs to you all,i really do know where your coming from.x

I to am new on here, I suffer with horrific pain across my lower back and 30sec standing is more than enough, as i feel like someone is cutting me in half, I am 54yrs old and used to be so fit and healthy, worked full time, 2 dogs 5 horses, 2 kids house & hubby, so was always on the go, I now can't hardly walk, and I am getting more & more depressed about it,

I take paracetamol, baclofen, pregabalin, tramadol, propananol, plus prozac for depression and nothing works,

I am lucky to have a wonderful hubby who does most of the housework, walks the dog, cooks, shops, he is amazing, he is the only one who really understands my illness, ( fibro, arthritus, sleep apeona, depression, panic attacks, plus have not been out on my own for 6yrs)

soft hugs to everyone xx loraine

Have you seen a physiotherapist or orthapaedic doctor about your back? Fibro can cause pain anywhere in the body but recurrent localised pain usually has an additional cause, even if it's something related to the Fibro, such as myofascial pain.

Morphine is not a recommended treatment for Fibro, partly because any opioids cannot work as effectively in someone with Fibro - one of the effects of the condition is fewer available opioid receptors.

I have an awful lower back along with everything else. I can't stand for long periods, my gp thinks it's neuropathic pain, however I have now been referred to the pain clinic as I want some steroid injections to see if they work. Bad news though, earliest apt with my consultant 18th June......GOOD NEWS....my work have said they will pay for a private appointment!!!!! Oh yes!!! So can get apt in the next 2 weeks!!!
