I’m torturing myself & my clinic won’t give me any direction..
At my lining scan, lining looked great but they spotted a polyp right where they would have placed my embryo. They stopped my cycle, cancelled my transfer & advised I get the polyp removed.
I’ve an appointment with a gynae surgeon on Monday for him to scan, review & book me in for the removal.
I’ve seen women start their meds straight away but my questions are:
1. will I have to down regulate again
2. How soon after a polyp removal have you transferred your frozen embryo & what was your protocol?
somebody please give me some info, I’m driving myself mad thinking of when I can start again…

hey, so sorry you’re going through this. It’s really hard to know what to do.
I’m on a natural cycle, I had polyps removed january 14th and pushed to have a transfer the following cycle.
I’m having an FET tomorrow and will be able to let you know how it went in a couple of weeks.
The clinic wanted to wait longer but the consultant who removed the polyps suggested that the sooner I have the transfer the better as post transfer my womb will likely the best condition it’s going to be.
It may not work out, but I don’t think it would be because of the lining!
Sending you sooooo much luck tomorrow!!! Get the cosy socks out.
If you don’t mind me asking, how does a natural cycle go? I usually have a bleed, then start Buserelin on d21. I’m then on that for approx 3 weeks, then they thicken my lining for 3 weeks before transfer. I don’t want to wait until I have another bleed then do 6 weeks of meds before transfer.
Thank you so much! It hasn’t sunk in and I know how rough the odds are so I’m trying not to give too much of my heart to it!
Do you ovulate regularly?
The process is quite simple compared to medicated - you notify them of your day one and from day 8-10 you attend for scans (I went daily) and they measure your lining and check your follicles. You test for the LH surge (I did this three times a day) and then notify them when you see it - they will then bring you in for another scan and advise whether or not you take an ovitrelle trigger shot (if you don’t surge they will tell you to take the trigger shot to make you ovulate). Even though I surged they advised I take the trigger shot to kick start my natural progesterone. You will the take progesterone until your transfer date (I’m taking utrogestan pessaries three times a day but everyone’s combinations can be different).
Depending on your embryo you will then go in on the relevant day for the transfer.
I hope that helps! I will be able to tell you more after tomorrow about the steps taken post transfer.
Hi sorry to jump on this post. Best of luck with embryo transfer!
Please can I ask how many cycles of natural you have done and if you have acheieved embryos? I have low AMH and they have suggested this for me for better quality eggs but when I looked on HEFA isn’t not recommended so would be good to hear your experience!
Keeping everything crossed for you and sending lots of baby dust! Xx
Morning! Thank you, feeling pretty sick with anxiety now!
I have very low AMH and had a mild stimulation for egg collection. They managed to get 8 eggs which was more than expected and all 8 fertilised. 7 of them were frozen.
We both spent 3 months prior to egg collection getting in the best shape possible. We stopped caffeine, alcohol and anything processed. We both look the naitre supplement and coEnzyme q10.
I have a naturally very thick womb lining (21mm) and reacted quite strongly to the mild stims which caused polyps, I’ve never had those before. So it took 6 months of procedures and waiting for biopsies to get my lining back to normal. Because of how I reacted to the stims I thought it best to try a transfer for another collection, so I’ve only done one round of egg collection and today will be my first transfer!
From the scans I’ve been having since I can see that without the mild stims I would probably only release two eggs a month. So it would have been possible without any stims.
Thank you - I have very low AMH too, we have only ever had 3 eggs collected at the most. I do take coq10 enzyme and a lot of other vitamins! I am wondering if natural cycle might be worth a go, but not sure if I am mid understanding how it works. Have you had no stimulation for egg collection?
that’s a great result 7 frozen from 8 collected!!
I wish you every success I have everything crossed for u today xxx
Hi, I had a polyp removed the cycle right before I started a long protocol, down reg then stims. I then had a fresh transfer (which stuck), my transfer was about 2 months after the polyp was removed. So sorry you had to cancel your cycle, so frustrating.
I had to do a last minute freeze all when they spotted a polyp not long before egg collection when we were planning to have a fresh transfer. Had to come off all meds, wait for bleed and then polyp removal, which they couldn’t find in the end. I pushed for a transfer the following cycle, but this was back when it was just with a trigger shot, no progesterone support, which I think I need because my cycles are typically short, and unfortunately it didn’t take. Next time they decided medicated cycle would be best for me but thought they could still see a polyp. It was eventually removed and they told me to stay on meds after removal so I could go on to having a transfer, only issue is I started bleeding. It was when you use to take suprecur which I’m not sure is still used and I didn’t take well to it. Had to come off all meds then wait for next cycle to start again just taking estrogen and then progesterone, which worked.
Waiting is the worst but in the end it was the best thing. Now have a 21 month old and expecting no.2 which was also medicated cycle just with estrogen and progesterone support. No polyp found second time round but initial cycle cancelled due to uneven lining.
I hope all goes well for you today and wishing you sending you lots of baby dust. Xx
I have my app today with the guy who will book me in for polyp removal. I’m really hoping my clinic will take today (I’ve started my withdrawal bleed) as D1, and if they insist on down regulating then let me start D21 of this cycle.
I’d love to skip DR all together but I’m not sure how that would work for me. xx
I had a polyp removal and started meds the day after surgery for my FET. Unfortunately, the cycle was canceled because blood was still in my uterus the day before surgery. My lining was at 8. I think we started the process too soon after the procedure.
Aw that’s rubbish. I hate when things get cancelled as we are all geared up. Ive started my withdrawal bleed today, hoping for surgery next week & then maybe starting down reg 2 weeks later. That would give me about 6-7 weeks between op & transfer.. surely I’d have healed by then??
I’ve been on the IVF journey for four years and this was my first cancellation out of five transfers. We’re on a break from trying and will resume in the summer. Plus, my RE is on maternity leave.
I’m glad you all are waiting before starting meds. It will give your body some time to heal. Praying all goes well.
I had to take estrogen after my polyp removal for a month and repeat my HSG. It was almost 5 months from my surgery date until my next FET. They would have done it a month earlier but my schedule didn’t permit. Good luck!
I had the same thing they discovered a polyp before my embryo transfer and I was gutted when they cancelled my cycle until it was removed. I badgered the nhs to get my appointment to remove as quickly as possible but felt gutted having to wait. I had the removal in June, waited for my period and went for my baseline scan in July when I started meds for lining. My transfer was then booked in for August and it stuck. Currently 28 weeks pregnant and I couldn't believe it. I felt like my transfer would never come quick enough but I have heard other success stories after polyp removal as sometimes it means everything is nice and clear and ready for the embryo. Wishing you all the luck in the world x
