Experiences of endometrium polyps and successful Fresh or Get without removal?

Hi all,

I'm doing IVF under a new clinic, I've had my day 9 scan today and they can see a 8mm "mark" on my lining. It's unknown if it is a polyp or scarring from a previous polyp removal in Oct 22. I did 3 IUIs with my old clinic after this and at certain points of my cycle they could see it and say it's just scarring from the polyp removal.

I just wondered if anyone had gone ahead with a fresh or FET when advised of a possible polyp/scarring after polyp removal and what was the outcome?

I understand the placement of the polyp on the lining can be an issue? For IVF where would it be a concern?

Also if an embryo does manage to implant when someone has a polyp can it cause complications for a pregnancy going forward?

My clinic have given me the choice to proceed with a fresh transfer or freeze all and have it investigated further but as a single person it seems like such a big decision. My friends and family find all things IVF mindboggling and although they are trying to help have said "how many people have them and fall pregnant naturally?" and yes althy this may be the case it almost feels like it's just a totally different world to them.

Also there's the financial implications as the private hysteroscopy is £3000 with travel costs but can't be done until October so the time part feels devastating.

I feel it will depend how many embryos I end up with as my EC is going ahead on Friday as to if it's worth chancing it.

Thanks in advance

Maybe you should discuss with your consultant exactly where the polyp/scar tissue is situated and your other concerns you mention in your post Hope this helps with your decision about wither to have it removed or not Also take a look at fertilitynetworkuk.org for support Main page click menu select Access Support scroll to Fertility groups -UK-Wise Groups then scroll to Single Womens Fertility Group for info to register for closed Facebook group

I had this dilemma. I was told I had what looked like a polyp on my first FET lining scan. They really wanted to cancel ad they said it can stop implantation, and felt under a lot of pressure. The consultant also suggested having further investigations to confirm. But for me, I had never had a polyp before, they weren't sure that's what it was, I had the option to cancel at the next scan if it became any clearer by then and I just couldn't face any more delays. It turned out to be just a bit of uneven lining from all the oestrogen I was on which resolved itself by the time of the FET and I have a little girl from that transfer. Maybe see how many embryos you get, I think that's probably going to be the decider. But at the same time freeze alls and FETs are much more common now and can have better success rates than fresh, so also don't necessarily see it as a negative. Good luck.with the collection!

Thank you so much for your reply. May I ask did you have any bleeding and was the polyp seen during your pregnancy?

Like you I feel like I don't want the delays when for me this isn't something new, looking back on my original scans at my baseline for my new clinic there is a picture of it and no notes saying polyp and it wasn't raised at all then about a hysteroscopy before starting IVF so I just feel frustrated to have got this far and managed the meds so well to now not continue the cycle.

Seems like once pregnant it doesn't cause issues unless it is interfered with, but it's the implantion side of things it can affect. They are going to look at it further at egg collection tomorrow.

Yes I think number of embryos will be a decider in this but it's that split decision to be made within a few hours.

Mine turned out not to be a polyp, just uneven lining, that somehow righted itself. But I did have bleeding throughout the pregnancy for unrelated issues, and it's quite common polyp or not, although worrying. My clinic want to do extra scans for everything and want everything to be perfect, which I get but the delays after delays can be so frustrating.

Sorry yea you did say it turned out to be a fold/uneven lining. (After hours of research last night I think my brain is now considering everything a polyp)

I do get they have to tell you and the guidance they can give is limited and decision comes down to me. Re placement all they will say is that it's within the uterus area, won't be more specific re if it's in an area that an embryo may impact as to them an embryo could implant anywhere.

Hopefully the scan before EC tomorrow will give more insight.

Thanks again for you reply, does give me hope but think it comes down to numbers
