Is progynova alone enough.. 🌈

Hi everyone,

I have my much-awaited embryo transfer scheduled for the 19th, marking the next step in what feels like a very long and emotional journey. My story began with the devastating loss of my baby boy at 24 weeks due to a chromosomal issue, followed by three early miscarriages. After extensive testing, the only issue identified was an imbalance in my vaginal microbiome—bad bacteria and a lack of good bacteria through Fertilysis testing. I spent months on antibiotics and probiotics, and after three rounds of testing, I finally cleared the infection. This was such a relief and meant I could finally book my transfer 🌈.

In the meantime, I underwent two egg retrievals. The first cycle looked promising, but due to possible early ovulation, we ended up with only one embryo, which unfortunately came back PGT-A inconclusive. I was heartbroken. The following month, we tried again and retrieved six PGT-A-tested embryos, which was such a blessing.

I started Progynova (3 tablets daily) on the first day of this cycle (Jan 1st) and will begin Cyclogest on the 15th. My natural ovulation usually happens around the 15th, and I’m worried that Progynova alone won’t be enough to prevent ovulation, which could cancel my transfer 💔. I have a lining scan booked for Sunday, but I can’t stop worrying.

Has anyone with regular ovulation cycles had a successful FET without ovulating prematurely? My life has felt like it’s been on pause since I lost my precious boy, and I’m holding onto the hope that this transfer will bring me his brother or sister 💙.

xx

Hi Victoria357, I had 4 FET rounds on this protocol. I had/have regular 29/30 day cycles with regular ovulation. When taking 3 progynova per day, I not only did not ovulate but had no leading follicle so ovulation wasn't even an option. This is a very standard protocol and you should be fine. The switch from progynova only to adding in cyclogest mimics what happens when you ovulate without ovulation. Fingers crossed for quiet ovaries and a lovely lining at your scan so you can proceed, and good luck!!! x

Hi, thank you very much for your reply explaining it all to me and for putting my mind at ease. Hopefully, I have the same outcome as you did. I have my scan in about half hours time so fingers crossed.🌈 xx

Hi, I am so sorry for everything you have been through and your loss of your baby boy😢.

I don’t want to worry you and hopefully your situation will be different. However, my FET was cancelled sadly because I ovulated even thought I was on a high dose of prognova (12mg a day). My clinic kept telling me I wouldn’t and somehow I did. Even when I had my scan in the UK I had 1 ovary that wasn’t quiet, but it was tiny and I still somehow managed to ovulate. The scanning lady even said it was very unlikely I would ovulate, but I did.

My clinic is abroad and this cost me £3k loss and also a lot of stress and upset. The next time I made sure I down regulated, so my prog levels were low before I had my trigger. If both of your ovaries are quiet at your scan, you should be fine, however if not, after my personal experience I would cancel yourself, as I put my body through a lot having to have a lot of meds to try and get back on track.

Good luck I really hope it’s all good for you when you have your scan and so much luck for your FET 🩷
