pregnancy and spotting

Hi everyone

I am writing now because I am just panicking.

I had my stage4 endometriosis removed in march 2023 and was placed on zoladex for 6 months after. Completed my zoladex and went for IVF. We tested positive last week with 2 embryo transfer and this is our 3rd week in the pregnancy.

I spotted some dark red blood on day7 post IVF just for a day and it stopped. Last night which is one week later, I started spotting again and saw it while in the shower. I don’t have any abdominal pain or cramps at the moment but I am worried that I might be losing my baby. The colour was dark red, then it was brown the next day and last night became black with some whitish particles. I’m not sure if the particles was from the pessaries I inserted.

Has anyone had such an experience and still didn’t lose the pregnancy? Also, if this is another harmless bleed, when should I expect this spotting to stop. I have also been working since the day I had my IVF and I have been getting stressed at work.

Can get 1 week sick leave for bed rest if I ask my Gp? Someone please help and respond as I am so nervous at the moment.

I can’t get a hold of anyone from the ivf centre as this is the weekend and the urgent centre I called said it is just a 3wks pregnancy and not due for scanning.

This is actually my second IVF journey. First time was when I was still on the waiting list for laparoscopy to remove endo. We miscarried at 8wks unfortunately. Now that endo is gone after surgery, I was thinking we would have a better chance to carry pregnancy to term.

hi I know it’s hard but try not to worry, it could be a sub chronic hematimoa which is quite common if only it was more spoken about so we was all more aware, my daughter had this on and off for weeks and all worked out fine for her. She had to come of some of her medication while she was bleeding and then once it stopped she went back on it… praying all works out ok for u x

hi, I’m sorry this is such an anxious time. I had red spotting at 3 and 5 weeks. My EPU scanned me at 6 weeks and all was well. I had little haematomas around the lining near the pregnancy and the nurse said this was common. It stopped after 5 weeks.

I wasn’t told to bed rest but just to take it easy. I had been running up until this point so I stopped that. The nurse said that I couldn’t do anything to make it worse (within reason) but just not to do a lot of lifting.

Thank you for letting me. If you don’t mind, could you please describe what your spotting looked like?

Mine started on Friday night with dark red blood, by Saturday morning it was brown and Saturday night, it became black and mixed with some white particles. I still see the black stains on my pant liner up to this moment but no bleeding, no cramping and no pain.

I am just 3wks as of today.

Hi ladies

First scan has been booked for me on Friday 12th of April. I will be 6wks by then. As you all know, I have been spotting for the last few days but no actual bleeding but the spotting had particles that looked more like tissue in it and the spotting was brown in colour mixed with a bit of greyish items which later became black. I have been so worried thinking that I might have lost the baby. It also felt like my cervix was open when I tried to feel it but I’m not sure if that was just in my head.

My question now is this.. has anyone had this same symptoms and still got a heartbeat at 6wks scan? I’m really worried about that.
