Brown spotting 5 weeks and 3 days pregnant

I just woke up and I saw brown spotting on my panties. I don’t know if the blood was red initially or not because it happened during the night! I have no pain or anything like that and after wiping I still saw some light brown discharge as it mixed with the progesterone pessaries as I have to take that 3x day after my FET transfer. I am super worried and my husband is telling me that is normal and I shouldn’t worry and we should just monitor it in case it becomes bright red. Did this happen to anyone here? Should I go to the hospital and get it checked? I am so worried :(((

hi lovely so sorry for this as it is such a stressful thing but yes it can be very common and may just be the progesterone pessaries irritating your cervix. Speak to your clinic as you should report any bleeding in early pregnancy but try as much as possible to stay calm as this happens in lots of perfectly healthy pregnancies

Thank you kiwibaby! Yesterday I took them all rectally to calm the area down and the brown discharge stopped. Xxx

brown spotting is very normal and often caused by the progesterone. From someone who went through miscarriage first, spotting happens but pink and very quickly ramps up and as you say starts like a proper period. Im sure all is fine and just remember anything brown is normal xx

I’m so sorry you had to go through a miscarriage … so painful 😔 I hope you are ok now and thank you so much for the reassurance! This process is so hard mentally and physically and it requires us to be really strong xxx

so glad to hear that you have a little miracle ❤️ And thank you so much fingers crossed everything will end well for me as well 🤞 xxx

I had this from 4 weeks pregnant until just after 10 weeks. I was told it was very common. Health professionals only seemed interested when it was a little red blood twice at 8 weeks and 9 weeks- then I was sent for a scan at the Early pregnancy unit both times. Everything was fine and the nurses there said they see it all the time and it’s very common. Sometimes they can see where the bleeding is coming from and sometimes they can’t. Everything was fine with the rest of my pregnancy ☺️ I would let your clinic know. But I think they wouldn’t send you for a scan until at least 6 weeks - more like 7 as it’s a little early to see anything x
