We had our consultation this week and can start treatment whenever (I need to induce a period so it’s really up to us).
A couple of things! My TSH came back at 2.65 but no one is willing to prescribe anything to bring it down - I’m talking my GP, my fertility clinic, and a private GP. We did realise that I’d taken the test late in the day and hadn’t stopped biotin and B12 before (hadn’t been told to!) so my fertility dr is at least repeating the test and said they’ll treat if it comes back any higher.
We also had our miscarriage tests back - the tissue was all normal 💔 so we’re adding lubion and baby aspirin just in case.
my white blood count was high when they took blood in June when we had the loss, and also 5 weeks later. All anyone is saying is we’ll retest in 6 weeks.
So I guess my question is, would you want all this looked into more, or would you be happy to go ahead? I am as ever desperate to crack on and I feel like I’m getting nowhere anyway in resolving the little niggles! But obviously want to give our last chances everything!

Hi Solly. I can't remark on the white blood cells as I have no knowledge but in terms of the TSH, knowing how my body responds I personally would want this lower before commencing a cycle. I have started cycles with similar numbers which have quickly climbed after starting estrogen or stimulation meds. It is very difficult however if your doctors do not support this perspective. The school of thought with thyroid does seem to differ between clinics and specialists which is extremely unhelpful. See link below which specifies TSH should ideally be less than 2.5 at the time of conception, perhaps you could show this to your doctor to see if it holds any weight for them. I agree it is a good idea to re-take your bloods though in the morning xx
Thanks Skittles, it’s so frustrating! My GP said the TSH is fine, my fertility dr said under 2.5 is outdated (but went on to say they’ll treat it if it gets any higher which suggests it isn’t that out of date!) and the private dr said ideally he’d like it under 1 but that his hands were tied when it came to prescribing!😫 I’m just sick of being batted away and feeling like I have to be a full time medical researcher to get anywhere. Sorry for the rant! Hope you’re doing ok lovely xx
Hey, I am starting my meds to induce period today ready to transfer next month. I have had my tsh measure several time between my chemical which I found out about at my viability scan in January. I paid privately and 2.61(mid jan), gp did it 3.6 (beginning of Feb), clinic did it 1.41(end of feb), gp 2.13 (mid July), clinic 2.71 (start of august) both my satellite and main clinic don’t treat for 2.71 and I was told it’s a cyclic hormone so does go up and down. There are some published studies that say 4 is a better number to look at
But having said that there is evidence both ways - basically I don’t think they know!
