Haha, can’t believe I was worried about covid delaying our FET by a month. We had our consultation today to discuss starting medication and were told that all treatment at our clinic, other than OI has been suspended because all the embryologists have resigned 🥺
I had heard rumours on here but hadn’t had it confirmed by the clinic yet.
So wtf do we do?? My partner reckons stay on their list and transfer 2 embryos to a private clinic to transfer in the meantime and I’m probably in agreement. To anyone who’s done this, how soon did you start? Do you need to repeat any tests with them? Did it cost what you expected? I guess I’m just worried about the cost spiralling and then we don’t have money left to do another transfer. Xx

I am also moving my last 2 from NHS to a private clinic and should do it in May just because I’m still waiting for my period post miscarriage. It takes a week or 2 to arrange the move with a courier. Good luck hun. Xxx
I was actually going to contact you because I remember your post saying you were thinking of moving. Do you know what courier costs are like? My clinic said there’s a £70 fee and another £150 for something their end for something - I presume it’s similar the other end xx
My clinic recommended some couriers, I can PM you the details if you want? I’m going to go with one that is £250 for London 1-4 zone move which seems reasonable. The clinic charges £180 administration fee, I am not sure if the NHS will charge something too 😣Also my clinic will charge £300 freezer storage fee! In also need to do a hysteroscopy so basically I am spending over £2000 just for this! Oh well!
Oh that’s really helpful, thanks lovely x what a bloody nightmare though, I’m sorry you’re having to pay all that before even adding the transfer cost. Someone’s making a lot of money out of us all hey? Xxx
Oh no, I can’t believe that! Last thing you want to hear, I’m so sorry lovely 😩
I used a London Clinic and they normally don’t have waiting times, I also know another user on here had her embryos moved there. I’ll dm you the details, not sure if she’s still active on here but I’ll tag her below just in case xx
Oh no!!! I don't have any advice sorry but oh my goodness that is such a nightmare 😭 It sounds like there's some good advice coming your way but I'm so sorry you're having to deal with this! X
This makes me wonder WHY they've all resigned! Aren't the working conditions acceptable? Are they not paid decently compared to other clinics? I'd consider changing clinic if possible...
Hi I’m at the same clinic and I’ve transferred my 2 embryos to a private clinic. I’m not sure about costs as I was already with the private clinic for my ERA etc. but you will definitely have to pay for a consultation.
Isn’t it crazy how late they have left it to tell us!? I only found out because I called a couple of weeks ago for another reason and the nurse told me, but I only got my letter yesterday!
Luckily the cost of transportation of embryos is covered by the nhs clinic as it would have cost £500.
Re staying on their list, the embryologist I spoke to yesterday said they will be closed for at least 9 months and then priority will be given to those patients who are 42/43. So I’ve asked my gp to refer me to another clinic.
Oh wow, that definitely makes up my mind - thank you for the info.
They waited until our appointment to start meds to say. I actually have covid so we knew we’d be delaying til next month but then this. She initially said 6 months delay then when I got upset and said we should have been told sooner, she said oh maybe 3 months?! When I asked if we’d be front of the line or elsewhere when treatment restarted she said she couldn’t say but it sounds like they already know and no, we wouldn’t be. Their management of peoples expectations is just dismal.
Good luck with your treatment and referral to another clinic! I’ve heard Whipps are starting people on their next cycle if that’s any use to you xx
Ugh this is so ridiculous!! I’m sorry. How utterly frustrating and kind of worrying what is says if everyone resigned?! I would call a few private clinics and see if you can chat through what they’d advise/charge in terms of transferring embryos for treatment and what their wait times are. Xxx
Is this HOmerton ? If so when I looked at transferring just after the first lock down as they had long waiting lists and you have to use one of their couriers call them and they give you the name think there was two price to transfer for me was £200-400 but they also have an admin fee depending on how many you transfer you may have also pay storage to the private clinic as well as the ones in storage at the hospital? In the end the wait wasn’t long and I now have a 3 month old after a failed fet before her! Hopefully they find some staff as I would like to try for a third at some point and would proberly go back there again!
