5 weeks 3 days and bleeding

Hi all,

I had some spotting 3 days ago and my clinic put me in bed rest and told me pause the Clexane and baby aspiring only to restart 48hours after no bleeding.

I restarted the Clexane and baby aspirin again yesterday and lo and behold, this morning I had dark brown blood on the pantyliner and pink when wiping.

I was so dizzy when getting up from the loo and had an extreme bout of nausea, both which settled down when I lied down.

My question is.. could this be as a result of the Clexane and aspirin?

I have some mild pain/discomfort in my belly.

Anyon have experience or insights? Wondering if I should go to my EPU. My clinic said this is normal and only to go if bleeding and pain increased

Hi lovely, sorry to hear you’ve had bleeding, it’s so scary isn’t it!When I had a bleed my consultant told me to stop all blood thinners and I haven’t gone back on them at all. They just exacerbate it so best to avoid. So it does sound like yours may be having an affect. I would call the EPU anyway or try and get a private scan. Just to reassure more than anything else. It’s such a scary time xx

Thanks Millbanks… it does seem that the blood thinners are directly responsible. It is very scary-I’ve just about calmed down from the shock of bleeding on Friday and now we’re back here. The viability scan is starting to feel like it’s not even worth it.Would the EPU scan and see anything useful this early? I’ve been holding off because it is so early.

My luck it is bank holiday the next 2 days in Spain where my clinic is at.. so emailed the emergency line. Hopefully they will get back to me soon

They might not yet see a heartbeat but they may be able to see the sac/yoke/foetal pole… or if not they might be able to see where the bleeding is coming from. Mine was from inside the uterus but outside the sac and was a massive haematoma, so it was reassuring to know it was unrelated to the baby.Might help put your mind at rest. I’d call and ask them, just explain the situation. Would your clinic not have an put of hours line? Xxx

Just heard from my clinic’s emergency line. They’ve put me back in bedreef for the day and off the Clexane and aspiring again… but they say these drugs are not causing the bleeds , just increasing the discharge.. so I expect they will want me to resume it again after another 48 hrs blood free. At this rate I will be on bed rest every third day 🙄. The clinic says they are still Co Disney of a positive outcome, so that’s me putting my panic back in my pocket.

Anyway.. I thought I would do the bed rest and go to EPU tomorrow.. my partner is being super calm and positive… that helps.

TMI warning.. when I discovered the bleed this morning on the loo, I had a wave of strong dizziness and overwhelming nausea.. seeing spots which calmed down as soon as I was back in bed. Every experienced something like that?

This all sounds positive - I was on bed rest for a while and I had a friend who was on bed rest for about 4 months of her pregnancy due to bleeding (twins) and all was fine. Some people do just bleed unfortunately.Definitely helps when your partner is calm too!

I did have a bit of that dizziness and the spots in the eyes too - but to be honest I think that was just from the panic!! xx

Wow.. the bed rest does seem to calm things down, but wow 4 months in bed seems a long time. Glad it worked out for both you and your friend. Well.. I’ve been praying for morning sickness so I guess this is it ha ha ha.

Thanks again for being around and supporting. Much appreciated 💕

Anytime my lovely!!Haha I know what you mean - I had no symptoms at all during my first trimester, and really would have loved something to make me think I was pregnant at all..... then I started bleeding and regretted thinking that!

Everything crossed for you xxx

I can't offer advice, but thinking of you and wishing you and babba well. Also, my clinic is in Spain, and I didn't know it was Bank Hol there, so thanks for mentioning that (just started a protocol). I hope the epu can offer reassurance to you. Xx

Thanks GiantPanda. Just heard from the out of hours line and they put me on bed rest… so maybe EPU tomorrow instead. Good luck with your new protocol xx
