Hi ladies, I’m 8+2 today. I had a scan on 7+3 which showed a lovely embryo measuring spot on and with strong and clear heartbeat.
I had another scan yesterday (this time I allowed my husband to attend, I was too scared before) and again it was measuring well and looked line a mini human with head, arms, legs etc and again a loud and strong heartbeat. No signs of bleeding despite me having some small light brown spotting the day before).
Today I had light red diluted bleed. I just don’t know what to think. It doesn’t make sense to go back, I had a scan yesterday morning, what are they going to do differently? I am on one progesterone (rectally), one Clexane 2000, baby aspirin and steroids. I’m in bed now but I don’t know what to think. I have nausea almost all day long and sore breast.
I had 3 miscarriages but never had a bleed before.
UPDATE: I went for a scan at the clinic and this time it was an abdominal scan as they didn’t know the source of it. I was sure they would not see anything but baby was there measuring 3mm more than two days ago and with a heartbeat.
I have a small hematoma just around the gestational sac. I’m off Clexane and aspirin now. They said they are not worried and I don’t need to be at bed rest but to slow down, no daily walks, no efforts etc. Did this happen to anyone?

Hi yes this happened to me. I literally bleed like that the evening after having a scan. It was my second scan at 8 weeks as I was doing intralipids so they were just double checking before the infusion. It was absolutely terrifying even though I knew it was very unlikely to be a miscarriage as the scan had been done 12 hours before. I called my clinic in the morning and initially the nurses said just monitor and switch pessaries to rectal ( see you are already doing that) but then my doctor called and told me to come come in for peace of mind and he had me scanned and checked my progesterone level. My scan and bloods were ok. I am now 19 weeks. At that scan the day after they found a very very small clot /subchorionic hematoma. I had a bit more bleeding a few days after the initial few days so was put on restricted movements until 12 weeks. And my doctor took me off the aspirin. My obstetrician specialist did then put me back on aspirin at 13 weeks I think & im still on it. I really really hope it works out for you. Xxx
Will go for intralipids drip tomorrow and they will scan me again. I also thought it was unlikely as all was great only 24 hours before! Hopefully all is good tomorrow, I only have some small brown spotting now, not much xxx
Bleeding in pregnancy is really really common-my midwife was really meh about mine, which happened around the same time and similar it sounds like. Totally understand your worry but as your scans are good it’s very likely nothing. Probably best to go over to the preg support page now-you’ve graduated! Xx
I had my viability scan with my last pregnancy at 7 weeks and everything looked fine, no issues. I had a huge bleed at 9 weeks, bright red, through my clothes and everything and it turned out I had a haematoma which had bled out. I went for a scan the following day, not with my clinic but with a private ultrasound place that has a very experienced sonographer and she showed me where the haematoma was.
I know it’s so hard when you’ve had losses but bleeding doesn’t always mean it’s bad news. Could you get a second opinion scan and see if anything shows up, might put your mind at ease?xx
Just seen your update! Glad they managed to see a haematoma as at least that gives you reassurance that’s the cause of the bleeding, hopefully as they’ve said it’s small, you won’t have much more bleeding 🤞🏻
Once mine bled out and showed a small size on the scan, I had spotting for a few days and then it’s stopped. I had no further bleeding throughout my pregnancy xx
I have another scan tomorrow as I’m going in for intralipids. Hoping it will be smaller not larger but I don’t have much now, just small brown spotting. Hopefully I done have surprises in the morning! x
I had alot of bleeding twice and the first worst bleeding with clots was when I found out I was carrying twins the 2nd was not alot.I was in Aspirin and vaginal pessaries. They stopped the aspirin for a while and changed pessaries to Progestrone in Oil. The bleeding stopped.Sometimes the transvaginal scan irritates the cervix also. You can double check to ease your heart and mind. But its very common
Oh god what a stress lovely. I’m reading this since you’ve done your update. I know it will still be a worry but I’m so glad your little babe has grown and still with a strong heartbeat. You have a little fighter in there 💗 xx
Never get to enjoy anything, I always have something! But as longs as the baby is fine I’m good, no matter what I have to overcome 💕Did you test again?
I'm so sorry you have to deal with all that stress but I'm so so relieved to see your update! Seems like bleeding with hematomas is quite common, the main thing is you and the little one are fine and that's all that matters! Sending millions hugs and smiles your way 🍀🍀🍀❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🤗🤗🤗🤗🥰🥰🥰🥰
So happy to see this amazing update🎉🎉🎉🎉 Must be the drugs we take with ivf because I don't bruise easily normally but when I'm on meds I've always got bruises and no idea how they got there. So makes sense why haematomas are common in ivf. Anyway I'm babbling now lol just pleased to see your update and wishing you a smooth road ahead. Big hugs❤️❤️❤️❤️
Very glad to hear your update! It’s normal to worry and we try to prepare ourselves for the worst to avoid disappointment, but if the doctors do not seem concerned, take it as a win for today and keep taking one day at a time! It is a long process to get to the finish line but I hope it continues to remain under control and you get to a point where you can relax and enjoy it a bit.
Yes I will take one day at a time, trying to focus on the fact baby is growing and should be safe in there as the hematoma is not close. So so long to the finish line! 😌 thank you xxx
Hi FrancyItaly. That's reasurring news Some members have complained that you have not moved over to the Pregnancy Support Forum. You will be with others who are pregnant and may even have suffered a similar start to their pregnancy. Obviously, I /we wish you a happy continuing, safe pregnancy. Diane
I bled from week 6 to week 11, sometimes bright red with clots. I had a scan every week but all was fine! After a few weeks I started to believe it was not related to the baby. Now healthy 2 year old. Best of luck xxx
I also think is not related to the baby but I’d rather have it gone soon. I worry it will get bigger. Anyway even the spotting stopped now that I stopped aspirin and clexane, hopefully this is it. Thank you for sharing xxx
