I will be prepared for medicated fet once my period will arrive. I am having MTHFR gene mutation ;heterozygous form. Does anyone have a similar history of this gene mutation? Were you in need for low dose clexane ( low molecular weight heparin) together with low dose aspirin during preparation for frozen embryo transfer or else during pregnancy

MTHFR Gene mutation, Any experience?
Hi, I have this mutation, heterozygous in both variants (C677T and A1398C). When I reported this to my NHS fertility clinic, they didn't want to know. However, my (private) nutritionist recommended I use folate instead of folic acid (methylfolate to be precise) and methyl B complex instead of the regular B vitamins. It's quite complex, but in short it has something to do with how we process and absorb certain things. This has helped me personally but you may want to reach out to a fertility nutritionist. Best of luck!
Hi, I have the same gene mutation and received the same advice to take folate. Could you provide more info on the type of Vit B you were advised to take as I haven’t heard that before so wanted to look into it more?
Hi Pink5678, as I mentioned above, I've been asked to take a methyl B complex (I was recommended a particular brand from abroad, but there are many different brands available online; people on here often recommend Thorne). I am not a nutritionist myself, so won't be able to explain in depth all the reasoning behind it, but if I remember correctly, the methylated vitamins are more bio available = easier to absorb for someone with methylation issues related to this particular gene. I don't fully understand it so was even sceptical about whether I need them or not, but decided to have a go and in the end didn't regret that as they made a huge difference to me personally.Hope this helps!
Hello!I have the same thing and been advised to take folate instead of folic acid. Mama Bird AM/PM is good or Thorne prenatal. You can also just take folate separately. Basically, our bodies don't process folic acid so we need its natural form, folate.
I also was taking baby aspirin (81mg) in preparation for FET and after BFP (still on it now). My doctor didn't put me on Clexane though but it can't hurt.
Good luck!!
My mom and sister both have this, and although I’ve never been tested for it? My clinic advises I take clexane and aspirin just in case (probable) that I have this gene too
