First ever FET starting when Aunt Flo shows her face Jan2020.Only one embryo in freezer.Any advice on how to survive it

So, January means it’s our turn to try our first ever FET cycle.

This is all new to me but.......I have already got my oestrogen tablets, ( progesterone gels for later too) just waiting on Aunt Flo to get things going.

When we started our first ever ivf cycle in October we didn’t know that on egg retrieval day they’d discover a big fat polyp . So after it’s removal and normal December cycle, it’s now time to begin our FET cycle.

We didn’t have a fresh transfer and only one embryo made it to day 5 blastocyst stage.

So , one grade A in the freezer ( no pressure little one ! 😊)

Picked up my tablets today, nurse was vague. Is it just me or is this version less of a faff compared to prostap, menopur injections to get to egg retrieval, ICSI etc. ?????

Seems like it should be more complicated? Any advice to help with anxiety and negative thoughts? I was defo more positive over Christmas , but think I threw out my positivity with the Christmas tree 🤣

All advice and positive vibes welcome, Thanks in advance for your support,

Hi RhinoCat,

I’m in the same boat with doing my first FET. Seems all too straightforward, almost like you’re not doing anything which is weird compared to a fresh cycle 😂

I’m trying to keep myself busy and not dwell on it too much. Easier said than done! Getting some yoga in before the 2WW is helping too.

I’m sure once I start medication I’ll feel much less anxious ..... said no one going through ivf ever 🤣😂

Trying to stay positive. The consultant told us that most people use their best embryo during a fresh cycle so I’m hoping this less traumatic version will be good .... in the end🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🤷🏼‍♀️. People who ‘just get pregnant’ don’t know they’re living! Every step of this is so intense.🤨

Gonna do some running until Aunt Flo starts then change to walking with my HAPPY play list. It always puts me in a positive mood . Must remind myself to switch it on more over next few weeks.

All the best KiboXx have you been on your medication long? Hope you’re feeling ok 💐

Yeah I think there is some fairly recent research that shows frozen transfers are more successful then fresh as it gives your body a chance to recover, let’s hope that’s true! 🤞🏻🙏🏻

I’ve been on the estrogen tablets for 9 days now and honestly I feel fine. Slightly tired but that’s probably just normal post Christmas lull 😂

Hopefully this will be both our years 😊

Get the Mindful IVF app,its very good for getting positive vibes and relaxation. Est and drink as many red foods 2 weeks before and after transfer helps with blood flow to uterus. Good luck xx

Red foods ? Never heard that before. Do ya mean red meat, peppers or what? I’m guessing not red wine 🤣

To be honest I had a 2 or 3 glasses of red wine the 2 weeks before my transfer and it didn't do any harm! Im pregnant now! Yes mostly red meat, dark red foods like beetroot, red cabbage, pomegranate juice, red berry smoothies etc xx

Hi RhinoCat

I’m 6 weeks pregnant after my second round of ivf and first FET. It seemed to take forever to happen as we went for pgta testing and an era, then I had a cyst!

I found the FET so much easier and more civilized. No bloating from the trigger, the intensity of stimulation and egg collection over. I was not the most positive in the 2ww, was more c’est la vie and hoping for the best. Went away for a weekend, got lots of fresh air and did fun things to take my mind off it. But I nearly fell over when I got the positive result. Was convinced it hadn’t worked.

Really missing exercise, still too scared to go to the gym as I know how fragile it is up to 12 weeks. So my advice would be to stay fit in this time you have before transfer. Enjoy your body being your own before it all kicks off!

And plan some fun, relaxing stuff for 2ww.

Good luck!

Oh thanks for this Intothewoods2 🤗

I think when I start the tablets I’ll be able to settle myself a bit more. Like you said, it’s hard to get your head around the lack of ‘stuff’ that needs done compared to the egg stimulation stage etc.

I’ve planned a wee night away with the husband after transfer but will defo take the advice to move whilst I can .

You are just right to take it easy . Congratulations on your wee angel on board . I’m sure you just can’t believe it 🤗 pure joy 💐

All the best for the coming weeks.

Thank you! I’m trying to enjoy the experience but can’t relax just yet!

My friend was the same, but from what I’ve found, the ivf mums are only like this because they are aware of alllllll things.

Treasure each wee step, and quietly ‘hope tight’

Have you heard of the book "the secret" all about positive thinking bringing results. Might be worth a look

I haven’t, but thanks for this 😘

Hi, good luck with the transfer! I am going through the same this month but they have not prescribed any estrogen tablets or anything else. Is yours natural transfer? Sorry for the question but I just want to make sure they are giving us the best chance and scary not having any medication. xx

As far as I know the estrogen tablets are to grow the lining thicker so that the embryo has best chance to stick . I’m just hoping it grows like it did on the injections because mine was ideal 12mm but, then we had to freeze all because they found a polyp . I presume natural is nothing and just time your cycle then pop it in . Just ask your clinic if you’re not sure?

Hi RhinoCat, I started my meds for FET on Sunday (after feeling like it took forever for Aunt Flo to arrive, always the case when you’re waiting to start!!). It is a lot easier than egg collection/fresh transfer, nice to just be on tablets and no injections and much more gentle on your body. It’s a strange feeling isn’t is?! I’m both excited and nervous leading up to my scan. Just make the most of enjoying your exercise before you start and then plan some nice relaxing things to do in the 2ww. Good luck xx
