Intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI)

I'm due to start IVF tomorrow and we've been asked whether we consent to ICSI. My partner is dead against it as he thinks the risk of male infertility in the child is too much of a risk. I'm not sure why he thinks this though as there's not much research from what I've seen.

I’m so devastating , I regret I didn’t use ICSI instead but lab told me even ICSI can’t avoid this, any advice? Thank you!

There was some confusion about whether to proceed with ICSI or IVF after I questioned the initial recommendation for ICSI. It turned out that my consultant had misunderstood me from the beginning regarding the duration of our TTC.

Why could they possibly recommend ICSI and how would we benefit from it if there is no male factor involved? Thank you so much

I know I'm so lucky to be going through another round of ICSI but so far I've had 3 failed IUI and 2 failed ICSI rounds (2 transfers). I'm finding it difficult to think this round will be any different than before.

We have paid for Icsi now at another clinic and I am honestly petrified. really need Hope :-( due to start end November

Any good experience using macs instead regular icsi? I have seen success stories with imsi and other with macs, which it is quite confusing!

Does anyone have any experience of using their own frozen eggs for ICSI? I’m 34 and have a high afc & hormone levels are good, but we are having ivf due to severe male factor.

Hey, I am writing this on behalf of my sister as she is on the fence about starting IVF via ICSI. She has had an appointment and the doctor has told her about the many side effects this treatment can have on herself and the baby if the treatment is successful.

Has anyone any insight into this, and if so would ICSI be best for us or something else?

I would be so grateful if anyone can share their experience of the Evewell relevant to my scenario: 5 rounds of icsi 8-1 8-10 mature eggs each round, some good some poor quality embryos very poor sperm - plan to use donor sperm for next round. We are 43 I follow Emma the embryologist.

Our consultant then suggested ICSI which we did and had 1 egg fertilised and resulted in a positive pregnancy. Unfortunately I had MMC at 5.5 weeks. We then tried 2 further rounds of ICSI with 4 follicles being collected each time but no fertilisation.

We’re doing ICSI and his numbers aren’t great, all below range besides morphology. Do we cancel everything or does anyone have a similar experience and can share. Many thanks xx

Hi, We will start ICSI on the NHS in a few months time. I’ve been advised I’ll be on the short protocol. How many in-person hospital/ clinic consultations do you have from first injection to fresh embryo transfer? I’m trying to plan work (to a degree - I know it can change a bit).

Instead we opted to have picsi instead of icsi which we had in our first cycle which didn't give us good fertilisation rates. So far picsi have given us a better outcome. Does anyone have any success stories with picsi treatment?
