Hey guys. We had our first failed ivf cycle.

My Amh is 12.1 and fsh is 8.2

Been told to take 75mg DHEA to help. Any experiences on it?? Both good and bad.

Starting second cycle in about 6 weeks

Thanks everyone much appreciated xxx

Did you, fab. How long did you take it for? I’m awaiting my delivery so our consultants thinks I’ll have about 10 weeks of it before next cycle xx

This sounds good well done! Ohh I am really thinking of you and lots of Luck xxx

I took dhea 50mg not doing any fertility treatments but had 2 mc previously and read all good things. I also took ubiquinol pqq zinc royal jelly maca omega 3 fish oil folic acid vits c&d baby aspirin and a prenatal. I felt good felt I had a goal 3 mths of supplements to increase egg health. We got pregnant the 3rd cycle but nope it was pretty much blighted the sac was even an abnormal shape. Miscarried by mva at 12w I was gutted I really thought they would make a difference. So I’m taking just a pregnancy multi now I feel I’ve nothing else to try. 🙁

I’d definitely give them a try tho everyone’s experience is different hope u get some good results x

I’m so sorry for your hard experiences and your losses I am really sore for you. That must be extremely hard. I have had a natural mc before and it broke my heart, now going through this. Currrently taking royal jelly , ubiquinol, omega 3, pregnacare, vitamin D, beta cardone, iron, various tabs!!! But starting dhea when it arrives. I feel so sorry for you and I don’t blame you for being disheartened. How are you doing now xxx

Hi, sorry about your failed cycle. We just had failed one too it sucks. Your FSH level sounds good, I was told 1-10 is normal ovarian reserve.

Was it your fertility DR who recommended DHEA? I researched DHEA & Ubiquinol However my clinic will not support their use stating clinical studies show makes no difference. My last 2 cycles I ignored them and took 75mg of DHEA & 200mg Ubiquinol. Being 43 Now am really concerned about quality & was convinced they would help given all the online research I read. Ended up being very expensive and getting DHEA on internet nightmare as not legal to sell in UK has to be imported. I spent hours researching which brand and still had no clue if safe etc. So my latest cycle was my worst ever & ended up with only 1 egg which although fertilised wasn’t deemed good enough quality to put back. Cycle before ended in miscarriage. I will be honest thinking of going back to basics with my next fresh cycle. Folic acid/multivitamin : only ones my clinic recommend.

I was the same, I thought as I got really poor numbers of eggs and quality was bad I bought the book “it starts with an egg” and researched a lot of things to with dhea and put it on our list of questions. When we had our review meeting our fertility specialist suggested I take it and gave me a site called Biovea. I’ve ordered them from there. As it’s USA sold only it does take a week ish to come. It’s not expensive it’s only £30.00 odd for 300 25mg tabs. This is exactly what our doctor recommended.

You know what I really sympathise with you, I had 10 follicles on my scan before EC. Eventually only 3 were collected and 1 fertilised. But wasn’t good enough for transfer, they went ahead and gave us 5% chance anyway. And I’m 30 with unexplained infertility and husband same at 33. Apparently my fsh levels are too high and that is part of the issue possibly. The next cycle will be the determining factor as he thinks I could have empty follicle syndrome as my numbers don’t match up from scan and EC.

It’s so hard isn’t it lovely and there are so many variables. Possibly continue with the drugs , or as you say totally scrap them and go natural. It’s a difficult question I hope your clinic is supportive.

Thanks for replying lots of luck to you xx

I tried DHEA after a disasterous first cycle, nothing to transfer (38/39ys and AMH 7.19). I took it off my own back although did ask my clinic (after I started taking it, naughty) but at this time they really had no opinion either way and said it might be worth a shot. I feel that it helped me get my embryos to blastocyst stage, we got 3 over the next 2 cycles. I didnt get my BFP but think its worth a shot. At the end of our NHS cycles the clinic that I used were actually suggesting to patients it was worth a shot! Good luck.xx
