Hi ladies,

I am after some advice on DHEA

My clinic refused to comment on this but lots of people I speak to and other consultants I have met at events seem to mention this a fair bit

Anyone currently taking these? Where did you get them from? How many a day?

Any information anyone can give would be appreciated :)

Thanks in advance

Jess :) x

I’m currently taking 75mg (25mg 3 times a day). Got them from a Biovea and didn’t take too long to arrive even though they came from US, think it was about a week.

I’m 41 with very low AMH so taking for egg quality as suspect high proportion of my eggs aren’t great. My clinic and another I went for a consultation with were ok with me taking it. It’s advisable not to take if you have PCOS as DHEA raises testosterone and you’re likely to already have high testosterone with PCOS. They advise getting your DHEA-S levels taken before and while you’re taking it to ensure your levels don’t increase too much or aren’t already high. I didn’t bother before as knew my testosterone was low but got tested about 2 months after taking it and was fine.

It takes around 3 months to impact egg quality so if you’re doing IVF you’re advised to start taking it 3 months before you plan to cycle. You might want to start on a lower dose (25/50mg) and gradually increase to lessen side effects, acne and greasy hair being the main ones x

Thanks for the info. I don’t think it would be that beneficial for me then tbh maybe that’s why my clinic didn’t really comment

I have slight PCOS and my AMH is good but egg quantity and quality have been poor so far

It’s probably too late to make an impact now as hoping to start our next round next month but I was intrigued to see what people thought xx
